I came across this site "Don't Fly Jetstar" yikes what a blast JQ gets, I do my best to stay away from them but on the rare occasion have done only because its the most direct way internationally CNS/DPS, the experience has been awful, hard seats, food and late departures both ways, found the crew very good though.

I have been on to this site and read some reviews and they are pretty bad. We fly JQ from Melbourne to Honolulu quite a lot and it has always been pretty good especially with the Dreamliner and exit row seats. Where I can I choose not to fly domestically with JQ though especially as no lounge at the new terminal in Melbourne

It's a different experience to Qantas and maybe it's a case of when things are fine it is ok but when they go bad they are rotten.

Not the most flattering of sites. But I also noted the advertisers, which they have quite a number including the ANZ Bank offering their FF card!

Jetstar is an utter disaster. I completely understand why that website was created.

I am on JQ to Ballina on Thu arvo / back Fri eve - am so looking forward to the experience - I might just plunge into my first ever TR - stay tuned.

Cruiser, with Jetstar's track record, it may be a bit presumptuous to say you will be flying JQ to Ballina on Thursday :)

Good luck with MEL T4 in any case.

I have flown JQ a few times SYD/BNE, SYD/AVV & SYD/DPS. Apart from a debacle a few years back, I have no complaints. Staff & service has been good.

I should have added I have flown JQ a number of times - they are a LCC - do you guys understand the concept of a LCC? My expectations have been adjusted accordingly - if I don't go Thu I can always go next week - T4 could never be a patch on MNL and I can get through their multiple times - maybe some of you 'Princesses' just need to adjust also. ;)

Edit: Shoot - I forgot the freakin smiley again - apols to all - it was meant as a joke.

Oh, I've flown JQ a couple of times as well - and yes, thanks, I do understand the concept of a LCC and no 'adjustment' necessary. Geez, lighten up a bit.

Sorry mate - I was talking to someone here when I posted that and I thought I had added the ;) - my apols again.

TBH I have never seen T4 from inside - Cruiserette tells my it has 1 or 2 shortcomings - is that true? :D

My plan is to not drive to MEL for this one as failure to depart will see considerable alcohol consumption undertaken as I meander home - perquisite for all JQ flts is to come armed with 'Alternate Plan' is it not?

No matter the airline one would expect edible food and a seat one can sit on. As there are no J (PE) seats on the direct CNS/DPS sectors at least we had exit seats for room. I like many others wish they would change their policy - no credit for cancelled flights, its unreal how many JQ tickets are on Gumtree for sale.

I flew from PER to DPS and back last week for $160. I was asked to sit in the exit row on the way there. I ate in the lounge before I flew and took snacks for the flight. The only complaint I had about the seat was that the magazine holder at the top of the seat wouldn't hold my laptop. I'm just thankful that I can fly to another continent for $80.

All to do with expectations. Jetstar is about par for the course for many carriers around the world, Australians by and large get spoilt by Qantas and even Virgin.

My "disruption" ratio (late or cancelled flights, poorly handled customer service, delayed luggage) is much lower on Jetstar/Jetstar Asia over the last ten years is than on my US domestic flights over the same period of time.

In Australia, Jetstar cancels a flight due to weather and people are shocked when the airline provides no support (meals, accommodation) to them and complain on social media. In the US a carrier cancels a flight due to weather ... you are completely on your own and no-one complains.

In Wizard of Oz style, you may end up saying something like "Cruiserette, I've a feeling we're not in [-]Kansas[/-] The Private Room anymore!" as you look unsuccessfully for the Krug . :)

I have used JQ from SYD to LST, HBA, OOL and MCY, without a hitch in the past. My expectations were low, and easily met as I transported about 7 persons at times at my expense. Cheap and fairly cheerful, uncomfortable but bearable, and always reminds my of EasyJet. It has met a need from time to time. Daughter on the other hand has had about 30% of JQ flights SYD-OOL cancelled. Luckily I only use JQ on average about once every 3 years, so as I said, bearable on occasion for a short flight.

If everything goes ok / JQ are fine for short jumps with no frills or fuss. However like your daughter I have been burned with quite a few cancellations which makes me think twice about booking them for anything other than a cheapie short holiday where time is not of the essence...

They might cancel those flights.
I knew the website existed a long time ago, have been reading it, have flown JQ dom and dom pax on int flight, thought they were ok, but then, I faced the final flight of the day JQ flew MEL - ADL was cancelled.
They were not putting me onto QF, their only option was for me to fly on their plane the first flight, but I had to be at work at that time that next morning.
Not happy JQ!
After that cancellation, I have forgone 1 booking, (made prior to that cancellation), and not made any more bookings with JQ.
MEL airport easy to use, pity that QF does not have a lot of flights MEL - ZQN, have an eye on trying ZQN, but only JQ does it, ugh!
Cancelled flights is my bugbear, delays I can bear with.

Completely agree. JQ are fine for short domestic flights, especially those which include F lounge access ;) but I wouldn't fly internationally with them. Too many horror stories of long delays and since they usually have one flight per day it's just too risky.

My nephews family flys (flies) with them a couple of times per year for family QLD hols to visit the rellos.

No problems but their expectations are low. Affordable price for family of 4 on limited income, leave reasonably on time, arrive with bags. They are happy. Which would be the bread and butter of their business, I would guess.
