IKnowThePilot(dot)com(dot)au is an Internet flight booking site that claims to be headquartered in Essendon, a good Melbourne suburb.

Has anyone used it?

Many of its flight deals include low cost carriers that I had thought were less likely to pay commission to travel agents.

Its fares seem cheap. Is the site reputable? I couldn't find reviews on the Internet.

Its affiliated with www.iwantthatflight.com.au. You cant actually book fares through them, but they act very much in the same way as a Skyscanner or momondo - referring you to another party to book (expedia, sta travel etc)

I have booked flights through them, haven't had any issues.

Funny name for the site. Pilots would be the last people to know how to get a cheap fare....

You seem to be quite proficient at knowing which deals are reasonable, and you must have a sensible 'no fly' list that includes AirAsia(X). You've already picked one 'good deal' in this section.

Even with practice, none of us are perfect: I only found out about one offer through this website, so hats off to AFF member deeskick.

I think there may be (quite) worse airlines than D7 from a safety point of view (what about AK, are they also tarred with the same brush?). As for me, I will quite happily continue to fly D7 when the price is right (only in "business" class of course), but those who are worried about their safety will quite naturally avoid them.

For the record, I have a private pilot licence, and have previously worked for the Australian Civil Aviation Authority (not CASA) for several years in a senior executive capacity. My age bears that out.

That's exactly what I was thinkin! :p

Reminds me of overhearing a conversation where a ground staffer was trying to explain to a BNE based B738 Capt how SC and points worked. The look of bewilderment on the Skipper's face was priceless. AFFer Fifa will know exactly who I'm talking about. ;)
