"The route 11 bus will have 32 city-airport services each way on weekdays from 6.26am to 9.11pm. Return trips will run from 6.48am to 9.40pm.

The bus will run 13 times on Saturday and 12 times on Sunday and public holidays."

Not that I'd use it, but I wonder what changed with the airport to allow ACTION to actually take their buses to the terminal? They used to have airport buses back in the late 90's early 2000's, but for some reason the service was stopped.

I don't know harvyk, but the guy who runs the private shuttle bus has only just been told and is understandably not happy.

I believe that the airport owner (Terry Snow) wanted a fee to stop at the terminal, hence they bypassed it and stopped at Brindabella Park instead. I guess the government is paying the fee now.

I don't remember ACTION ever taking their buses to the airport terminal. The previous operator of the airport buses was the Queanbeyan public bus operator with an airport surcharge.

If this new ACTION service just costs the normal fares, then somethings changed.

This is welcomed news. I'm sick and tired of paying the highest cab charges in the country. It will be perfect when flying back in from Singapore at 9ish when the morning chill lifts and Canberra looks her finest.

ACTION serviced the terminal some years ago.... my understanding was that patronage was so low as to make it pointless.....

This new service of course includes Brindabella Business park so patronage shouldn't be a problem!

The current service to Brindabella/Fairbairn parks (Route 11?) is IME used by some as a de facto airport service....

Interesting that they don't mention the MyWay card fares (which are substantially cheaper).

Although like Myki there is a card fee ($5) and I suspect no-one sells them at the airport

It looks like the nearest MyWay agent to the airport is at CIT Reid. Though you can order a myway online via a form on the transport canberra website.

If enough people use the service, maybe one of the airport shops will become a recharge agent and get cards to sell.

No shops on arrivals level and I doubt the rental car desks will want to do it.

For me it's 20 minutes by car, or at least 1.5 hours by bus. Yeap I think I'll be continuing to go by car.

For me, it would vary. There are 3 bus routes within walking distance of home. On weekdays, 2 of those routes stop going past Belconnen (3xx) by around 10am, but that 3rd route takes the longest to get to Civic.
The quickest option would be 55 minutes + connection waiting time at Civic.
But with fares starting at $2.30 (off peak myway with online recharge discount) vs ~$60 for taxi, the extra travel time might be worth it.

What's the price for an Uber?

I have to admit I've usually used taxi's as I tend to take OMG o'clock flights and I don't want to be standing around at 4:30am hoping one will be down my way, although now Uber is doing pre-bookings I'll probably consider them for next time.

While it's good to have a public transport option, given the way Canberra is, I guess I would still be stuck without a car unless all I want to do is to be in the city centre.
