I've been looking at Award availability for 2 J flights to Bali. I won't need them until mid March 2018. There just aren't any J awards. Is this normal? Ive never booked award to Bali before so have nothing to judge this on.

I am Platinum. Would I have any chance if I rang up Qantas and ask them to release seats? This is new to me too. First year as Platinum.

Thanks.

Too far in advance perhaps? Qantas release at 353 days prior from memory.

I have been doing dummy bookings for the last week. 10am Brisbane time. Every day, no J award flights to DPS.

Gotcha, indeed can't see anything on EF either. I'd be putting that WP to use once the day you're looking for goes on sale!

Will be very interesting to see if I can get the flights with a phone call. Just seems odd that there are no J award flights at all, maybe there never is on this route.

I was also looking at Honululu for next year too. Same situation.

SYD-DPS is a popular route, and there are only 12 J seats on Qantas' 737... so this does seem plausible.

When the flight goes on sale, check to see if any revenue J seats are available in "I" class. If there are, call QF and request the WP release.

Another option (if you don't mind adding a couple of hours' travel time) could be to fly into Jakarta. QF often has 2x J awards from SYD-CGK.

FWIW, SYD-HNL is another route where getting a seat is almost possible.

Thanks very much for your great advice. I have never tried to get award flights on these 2 routes before so your information is very helpful.
