Hi,
So, friends have been in contact from Gladstone (GLT) inquiring as to the reason a 737 in Air Nauru livery has just departed there after a stop of about 24 hours. Does anyone here know?

Perhaps to do with Norfolk Island Airlines, whom have said they will lease a 737 off Air Nauru to fly the NLK-AKL route Air NZ is stopping come May..

Maybe it's Linc execs skipping the country after their very predictable coal gasification vandalism debacle!

Why would that explain its presence in Gladstone...

My first thought was maybe a someone commandeered it, like the old days, for a spot of shopping but I dont think theres a designer store in Gladstone, is there?

Air Nauru is a charter plane for the Department of Immigration/ABF.

I've flown on it a number of times ;)

It would have been a transfer of some kind.

rookie Question for Air Nauru, While flying you from Melbourne my Baggage allowance is 2 times 32KG but on Air Nauru its allowance is only 23 KG and therefore I should pack for which? baggage allowance?

And should I join Air Nauru loyalty scheme.?

So does air Nauru have some codeshare agreements? Probably due to not meeting FAA and ICAO standards it has probably none.

Thanks for the replies in advance

I missed this previously, but in the early '80's I used to work on the ships Nauru had at the time. When they weren' t under arrest in Melbourne for outstanding payments, (tied up at what is now Docklands) they would be up to all sorts of escapades. I recall once, a ship off the Qld coast was re-routed to New Zealand to pick up some chooks for a rather important grand child! Expensive chooks!

Sorry Marki, but I don't know the answer to your luggage question.

Nauru Airlines (ON) does not interline baggage. Your tickets will be on different PNRs, so you will have to collect your bags on arrival in BNE and schlep them to the International terminal to check-in for your ON flight. The ON baggage allowance will then apply, and they are strict about charging for excess baggage.

ON does not have a loyalty program, nor does it have any codeshare arrangements at present. It does have an Australian AOC, and its planes are registered in Australia, so safety and maintenance oversight is strong.
