still good to have access to the better Intl J Lounge compared to the QP.
Is it? The few times I have attended the Intl J lounge (in between short drops to SG!!) It seemed very average, dark, over crowded and not really a nice place to be! All times have been peak periods so perhaps it is slightly more tolerable during off peak?

Well in fact, what brought all this up was my better half's membership anniversary being in May, and her being really quite close to Platinum membership for the first (and possibly last) time. The FLounge is definitely worth a visit. Domestic flights from the international terminal are certainly worth the hassle if you can use the FLounge.
Of course you could go on a short overseas trip e.g. to NZ and access the FLounge too.
To dribble-on further, those Emirates flights leave late morning and I'm told the Sydney F lounge restaurant has a really good lunch ... so, I was looking for short-hop flights (for after May) so that we might get a chance to sample it. Yeah New Zealand is indeed another option, but we could go Mould Coast or The 'Bane or Melbourne just overnight whereas an NZ trip would more sensibly be a bit longer.

Sometimes Jetstar tacks a domestic leg onto Gold Coast / Japan flights, may be northbound or southbound. And until the flights were suspended on the weekend, they were doing the same for the Gold Coast / South Korea service. Are there scheduled flights out of SYD (or MEL) to international destinations with domestic legs?
