Bombardier dash 8

The only problem with the Dash 8s is the small overhead bins.

I must confess, this is one of my preferred qualities of the Dash 8. I loathe the ridiculously large "overhead luggage" bags jam into jets these days. The alternative of "Premium Hand Luggage" is very civilised - even if, once you have landed and disembarked, it means lugging them up the stairs at an airport that uses aerobridges for other aircraft!

If my memory serves me correctly, that seat doesn't exist as there's only 2 on the left in row 1. Did you mean 2D?

Might be thinking of the Dash 8 - 300 ?

Maybe it was the 300 version but I certainly had 1D.

I have been shunted onto one of these from a 400 for an upcoming flight on my regular EMD-BNE. They actually take 20 minutes longer than the 400 for the same trip

LOL... thinking DUB! But that route seemed odd for that aircraft so I had a look.....

OK... what you are no doubt doing is flying on Flybe ...in a Dash 8 to either GLA or MAN....an hour or less....

THEN on to an FI (Icelandair) 757-200 for the 2 hour plus flight to KEF....

Didn't seem right to fly a Dash 8 across the North Sea! :mrgreen::mrgreen:

Although... Id be in that... only problem is its 1380 ks...and the Q300 (fr'instance) has a range of 1551..... might be pushing it....lol

Iceland Air will run a direct service (or will be) from BHD to KEF from June this year; I thought it odd but a google search turned this up from the local paper. scroll down and skip survey to get to the story (New Belfast City Airport to Reykjavik flight with Icelandair - BelfastTelegraph.co.uk).

Being the quality paper that it is, the photo is of a jet liner rather than a turbo prop.

When I looked at this yesterday I also saw that EasyJet fly from BFS to KEF. If a single aisle jet liner is preferred then that might be an option.

turns out the route is to be operated by Air Iceland, rather than IcelandAir. There are no Dash8's listed on IcelandAir's fleet guide.

Flying the Dash 8 allows you to see some good views as you don't fly as high.

There can always be bumps but once you are above 20,000 feet then usually there are very few bumps and the pilots tend to steer around the ugly clouds.

And it WILL be a Q400!!!

Strange that the photo they showed appeared to be a 787 in FI livery...
