Hi all,

Looking forward to my first SQ Suites experience next month. Very happy to get availability only one month out although I was a little flexible. Reading this forum has been brilliant and answered most of my questions, but just have a couple more.

1) I am flying out on SQ218 overnight. I chose this as it was the only available A380 flight. Being a red-eye, is the experience not as impressive as a daytime flight? I have ordered via BTC but will the meal be served after take off or closer to landing? Ideally I'd like it upon take off as its probably more suitable than getting stuck into a lobster at 4am! And if it is upon takeoff, can one still request breakfast? Does this flight still miss out on caviar service?

2) On the way home from HKG, I am staying a few nights in Singapore. Most reading suggests that I cannot use the Silver Kris lounge or any lounge for that matter in Singapore on arrival from HKG (I have no Star Alliance status). I will be staying in Singapore for four days before taking SQ Suites back home to Melbourne. Is this correct? Seems strange given than I am arriving in Suites class into SQs global hub? Any way around this given my next flight in 4 days will also be SQ suites?

Many thanks

1) I am flying out on SQ218 overnight. No caviar on this flt - you just need to tell R cabin crew what time you want whatever meals saerved and they will accommodate you.

2) On the way home from HKG, I am staying a few nights in Singapore. If you are arriving into SIN in R or F you are entitled to same day arrival access to TPR, SKL F and J.

I'd say this is a little ambiguous - I had a 4 hour wait (1am to 5am) for my friend on arrival flying suites from Sydney (which became nearly 5 hours as our flight arrived much earlier than scheduled). I was denied access to any lounge, and was told in no uncertain terms that it was strictly for people with onward travel on the same day. I ended up waiting in arrivals for 5 hours. :/

Well that is news to me Sludge - what was your arrival time into SIN? Who conveyed that info to you? Staff at entrance to SKL in T3? Arrival access for F/R BP holders whilst is unpublished benefit it certainly is unequivocal - I have never heard of anybody genuinely eligible being turned away.

Maybe I was just unlucky then. Before we departed Sydney at 19:04 (earlier than the scheduled 19:20), the cabin crew came around and let me know we'd be arriving roughly an hour ahead of schedule, and that it might be a good idea to phone anyone who was meeting me to let them know. I made an offhand comment about having to wait for my friend at the airport anyway, so I didn't need to contact anyone. The cabin crew jumped in to action, and I was told they'd attempt to message the ground crew in Singapore whilst we were in flight to hold my bag and find out what my options were regarding lounge access. I was very impressed, I certainly wasn't expecting anything like that!

We landed at 23:45 (25 mins early, after ending up having to hold a little while above Singapore), and I was met by ground staff when the door opened (again, very impressed!), but as they walked me up the aerobridge, I was told in no uncertain terms that although I could stay airside in the terminal if desired (and collect luggage from lost luggage later), the lounge was strictly for departing passengers only, and therefore it wasn't an option to wait there. I was also told it was not possible to walk to T1 from T3 and that the skytrain would stop at 02:30. Therefore I resigned myself to waiting 4-5 hours in T1 arrivals instead, and I went to collect my luggage which was about the forth out on the belt, so great priority luggage handling there.

I wasn't too impressed, as you'd really think that a first class international product/service would allow some kind of access when a lounge is available. Would have been nice to have had a shower. But it wasn't the end of the world in the end, at least the hotel had a room ready when we arrived at 6am!

Hi all,

I have just spoken to SQ Sydney phone number and while the operator did sound a little uncertain, she checked with a colleague and confirmed that there is no lounge access on arrival in Singapore for suites passengers. Sounds like you have had success on this Cruiser so I might just approach the Silver Kris lounge and try my luck.

Does anybody know if this benefit is published anywhere? Would rather a bit of certainty before I arrive.

TBH I have posted this like 1,000 times - same day TPR/F/J Lounge arr access is an unpublished benefit - NO it is not published anywhere - but it is a fact of life and I have NEVER heard of an eligible pax being turned away since it's inception. If you ever front up to SKL Lounge with youir same day arr BP and your entry is questioned simply ask for a Manager - but again I have NEVER heard of an eligible pax requiring to do so. I cannot guarantee it never happens but ALL lounge staff are aware of this benefit.

So ground staff told you this and not Lounge staff? If YES that was your problem - ground staff would not know. Same like SYD or MEL call ctr staff - they would not know. Same like KF call ctr staff in SIN - they do not know - SKL Lounge staff do know.

Yep - completely understand, and not doubting this. I think I just got unlucky that the impressive service by the crew (when I made an offhand comment about having to wait) backfired on me, and the ground staff told me in no uncertain terms 'no access'. I didn't feel comfortable then going to the lounge anyway and attempting to get in, as there was no way I could fain ignorance.

That, combined with the skytrain service stopping, made me give up.

Anyway, now you have heard of someone being denied access (albeit not by the lounge staff directly). :)

Nope still does not qualify as access denial - you were incorrectly advised by SQ ground crew - big difference to access denial when you were eligible for access. Anyways - lesson here for everyone - very famous Chinese saying - 'Believe not what the EAR hears - Believe only what the EYE sees!'

Yes Sludge321 you must have been unlucky.

I can confirm what Cruiser Elite is saying.

We have had breakfast in TPR on several occasions on arrival in SIN, where we had a one or two day stopover in Singapore.

Never a problem.

Another wrong bit of info. T1 to T3 is connected and certainly very walkable without the skytrain!

Landside (I had to clear immigration/collect luggage at T3)? If indeed it is walkable then that's very disappointing to have been told that.

All the main terminals are connected at SIN and it's an easy walk. Skytrain makes it quicker but if you have time to fill it's not overly strenuous.

However - if you have baggage you must enter SIN through immigration at the terminal you arrived at. If your flight docks at T3 you are free to wander all the terminals but must ultimately return to T3 for immigration and baggage collection. (The need to return to the original terminal is because baggage reclaim is separate for all of them.)

Without baggage you can enter SIN at any of the terminals.

Apologies in advance. There may be a better thread for this question but I haven't had any luck with the search function on my phone.

Arriving in SIN in SQ F just after midnight, with an onward international flight, SQ J (no F on that route) departing about 13.00pm, what is the best option for the transit time, please?

My SQ exoerience is minimal and I've previously used only TPR, which won't work with this timing.
Any tips gratefully received. :)

Either enter Singapore and go to a hotel for a good sleep (or stay airside and go to the transit hotel).

Midnight arrival will have you at your hotel by about 1am. Depart next morning about 10am for 11am arrival at changi. Same day connection should give you TPR access no problems.

We have used Crowne Plaza Changi in this situation. Located just outside the terminal so no time wasted travelling.

Yes we stop in Singapore at the Crowne Plaza in the terminal then do breakfast in the Private Room before heading for London or Los Angeles. Very relaxing and it makes our long hauls 5 hours shorter out of Perth.
