I booked an itinerary BKK-KUL-ADL return as a business promo ticket (class Z) for 2 adults and an infant. The fare breakdown is as below.
Base Fare Taxes Total Fare
Adult 34,000 THB 3,550 THB 37,550 THB
Adult 34,000 THB 3,550 THB 37,550 THB
Infant 3,400 THB 100 THB 3,500 THB
I decided I want to reroute the return leg to be AKL-KUL-BKK so the new fare breakdown is as below.
Base Fare Taxes Total Fare
Adult 37,750 THB 2,230 THB 39,980 THB
Adult 37,750 THB 2,230 THB 39,980 THB
Infant 3,775 THB 100 THB 3,875 THB
The terms and conditions state that the ticket is non refundable but changes are allowed at 2000THB + fare difference
The call centre staff insisted that I must pay the change fee plus the base fare difference and not the total fare difference even though the taxes on the new itinerary are cheaper. I was charged the below to change the itinerary
Change Fee Base Fare Difference Total
Adult 2,000 THB 3,750 THB 5,980 THB
Adult 2,000 THB 3,750 THB 5,980 THB
Infant 2,000 THB 375 THB 2,375 THB
Does anyone know if that is correct or not they charge on the base fare difference and not the total fare difference?
The agent didn't fill me with confidence as she had to do all the calculations manually on a calculator making errors over and over until she came to the same figures as I did, then couldn't accept payment in THB and had to convert the currency again all manually herself by calculator making mistakes again until we agreed on correct calculations. Surely in this day and age the computer system should understand the ticket conditions and be able to calculate charges accordingly but obviously not.
I guess I can't complain too much as the tickets were so cheap in the first place.
