Hi All

I want to transfer 49,000 miles from my daughters AA account to my AA account. She isn't going to be able to use them in the foreseeable future so they are better off in my account. I'm just wondering how it is even worth it when they charge US$627.50 for making the transfer. My brain doesn't do the maths too well so not sure how that works out value-wise but it seems a bit steep when I have already paid for those points in the first place.

I know there is a bonus on transfers now until the end of Oct and that should help.

Requesting enlightenment :-)

It's usually uneconomical. The only time it would sometimes make sense was when they had big bonuses as it was a way to effectively buy miles at very low prices. US Airways used to do 100% bonuses on transferred miles.

Otherwise it makes no sense...just leave them in your daughters account and book flights from that account when needed.
