ATO (tax office) payments by credit card

A little bit of thread, but the NAB have sent out emails offering prizes of $10,000 + $5,000 per day for making Bpay payments , so I thought it may be something to pay say 300 or 400 per day to Telstra with a minimum $, I did not get as far as checking how small you could pay, as i read the T&C

Disqualification

NAB reserves the right to disqualify any Entrant where NAB reasonably considers that the Entrant has unfairly split payments to the same Biller into multiple payments in an attempt to gain more entries into the draw.
C and came across the following, so proceeded no further.

Bummer!

Grounded I had limits on my Q card where 10,000 a day was ok but 15,000 was not. Have had no issues with BW W at all nor BW P. I hit the cap on the last one so it isn't ready for another payment.

Don't have to be greedy to increase your chances, people do have multiple accounts or pay others etc. A little bit of creativity should not stop "the game"

In my case the limit seems to be specific the The FF. I've made 5k+ purchases on goods (online), but 2.2k via Optus Smartpay get's knocked back...

I wonder if BW are taking the approach of "managing" the issue rather than outright rejecting earn via this specific gateway. My biggest concern is that they'll call me out for "business transactions" and I'll miss out on the signup bonus that hasn't yet posted.

Because it is a long weekend in Perth I have an order for US currency up around last nights high. If I get it I will go for AA miles on the US credit cards.
Have just finalised our SMSF and I must say I am still very impressed with E Superfund. Really efficient and quick. I was referred to them by a smart lady in Melbourne and after about 5 years I am still grateful for the tip.

Hello ATO I am looking forward to a tax refund. Did not expect that to happen on one of our ten accounts other than if I inadvertently over paid a quarterly installment.
So far my order to get USD has not reached my limit so I must be patient to get currency for AA miles.

I'm just a salary earner, so usually see a refund rather than a tax bill.

This year I will have a capital gains tax bill, will it be possible to pay some early with some ($400) Visa cards I was gifted? I think they'll expire before FY17 tax time.

PDog never think things like "I am just a salary earner".
Everyone in this thread is making a contribution to keeping our country running so you are important.
You might consider using a Bankwest Platinum CC if you are eligible and pick up a sign on bonus as well. Currently they pay half a point a dollar on their Visa card.
I don't know about gift cards other can Coles and Woolies 5% off ones for supermarket shopping.

Aww, thanks Cove! But by 'just a salary owner' I meant my dealings with the ATO are limited :)
I think my bill will be around $15k, so the more of that I can convert to points the better, will check out BankWest.

Thanks again!

We pay CGT every couple of years as we transition from being the great acquirers to simplifying our lives. The stuff we have sold has not been missed so it hasn't hurt a bit.

Is that the expiry date of your card ? I have it too and not received anything. Did it come with your Statement or a separate email ?

I cancelled my Platinum card early this year. The Notification was for my wife's Classic Jetstar card (the one that pays 0.5 QFF points per dollar). The timing of the email wasn't near the expiry date or statement date. It came from 'Jetstar Card Services' and also gave notice of a increase in annual fee from $59 to $69.

Id be surprised if they made such a change to the classic but not platinum card.

Not sure about the ATO changes, but the cap on earn at 1:1 is on the website now (1:1 for the first $2500, 0.5:1 thereafter). The annual fee is also going to be $169pa

comparison

We have 2 eye watering sized Land Tax bills along with the usual ATO stuff. Just thinking who I should favour. It is really nice to have choices. I did get to book some USD to load two US CCs. It is still a game after 7 and a half years.

Not too many left in the ATO game unfortunately

With all those CC sign on bonuses many are probably moving to get those instead of doing endless ATO.

I think JETSTAR will get the flick, I got my email today too.
What's the point of multiple cards paying 1:1 for $ 2,500 then 1:2
Time to start looking at the viability of the annual fees and ring them and say "waive or cancel" i think !
