Flying with daughter qf1 6/10 Syd-LHR in PE. I have enough points for upgrade request to business on outbound. I've been checking seating on EF as if I was going to have an important exam.:lol:

There have been a few double rows available, now slowly showing single seats taken in double row.

My ? is if there are still single seating available after row allocation & we weren't offered row, would we be offered single seats? We are on the one booking. The return flight business is already full.

My daughter hasn't flown business, I would love to give her the experience. She thinks my obsession with all things ff membership, seating, loung, etc is a tad obsessive. ;)

If there are seats available and your upgrade comes through you'll get them whether or not they are together. Then at the airport you can beg/plead/negotiate to be reseated together if desired.

If your upgrade comes through (and by through I mean not at the gate [BEEP BEEP]) you'll be able to log in and choose your business class seats.

Just a reminder that seating is not necessarily an indicator of load.

Mrsdrron always includes me in her upgrade request. When it is granted I go online and select seats.Often seats that show as occupied are available when you go to select your seats.

As mentioned. Seats may look like they are occupied, as they are reserved for Platinum One, or other higher tiers until it gets closer to departure. Keep checking is my advice. e.g. I know that as at QFF WP I can't select the front row of business nor the front 2 rows of economy until ~ 80 hours before departure.

As ManneJ mentioned, the seat selection chart doesn't indicate load - especially if you have a low FF status.

If you want to check Business Class seats available, go to the Qantas website and attempt to book 9 Business class seats on the same flight you are on. If none are available, try 5... if you get 5, try 7 etc... you'll find the number of available seats at booking time.

Remember also though that people miss connections or change flights. Register for an airport upgrade - although I recognise people who are not Gold/Platinum may not wish to as they would miss out on the lounge experience if they received an upgrade at boarding time.

Dr Ron, as we are on the one ticket, doesn't that mean I'm requesting upgrade for both? Sorry if I misunderstood what you said.

I presumed you were and the upgrade request was for 2.We are always on the one ticket so Mrsdrron cant get out of upgrading me!

Thank you, I fly solo so trying to use common sense in this situation, something I lack sometimes.;)
