Marco Polo Gold - can I get a status match with other airlines?

Just wondering if anyone knows if its possible to get a free status match with any popular airlines such as Qantas or Singapore if a user is Marco Polo Gold, and flying from MEL -> PVG every 3 weeks.

My old man is a gold member and just trying to help maximise his benefits.

Qantas: No
Singapore: No

Furthermore if he's flyng CX/KA on this route - what's the point in a match?
You'd already be maximising the benefits so long as he's flying in a miles earning class.

It's also important to note where airlines do matches (outside USA), generally it's a one time only deal.
If you take the match and never re-qualify - you will be declined future matches including if the airline runs a promo.
For this reason I would only encourage a match if you genuinely wanted to move your business AND you had full intention of qualifying.
