B77W Business Class Seat Map - Updated!

I flew SYD-LAX last week and was chatting at the bar to a bloke who said he was a reporter (for Sky, IIRC). He was flying PE out and J back, and would be filing a report on both cabins, so keep an eye out for that........

Before anyone points it out, I think the staff had been told that he would be on board, hence why he was allowed to use the bar while flying PE ;)

So his report on flying PE would not be valid as you cant go to the bar. Spending time in the time will change his mind set completely.

I tend to find those travel reports a complete waste of money.

I am currently assigned 11A, has anyone experienced this seat?

Has the curtain issue been fixed now on all refurbished planes or is the rear J cabin still a poor option?

I'd be interested in how you find sitting in the rear section of business class now that the curtain issue has been resolved. I always used to get 5A or 5C on the old configuration but now I opt for 1A if it's available.

I am currently assigned 11A. My only other option is 8G because the cabin is completely full.

From what I have read 11A is in an awkward position due to its proximity to PE. Maybe I should switch to 8G if the curtains have been installed.

Thanks for confirming.

Curtains all sorted, and very effective they are too.

Flew VA1/VA2 last week and during a visit to the bar – which was very busy, especially on the ex-SYD flight (helped by the fact that there was quite a group of us journalists travelling together, and being companionable [and being journalists!] we all made for the bar) – so I ducked into the mini-J cabin to check noise levels for those seated in the first row there (8).

The dense noise-deadening curtain fabric was surprisingly effective. Yes, there was a bit of noise from our chatter and laughter but nothing over the top and if you were sitting in row 8 watching a movie with your noise-cancelling cans – a likely pos-dinner scenario on VA1, as this was around the same time as we made for the bar – then I suggest you'd not be bothered at all.

As for row 11, naturally anything closer to the threshold for non-J is often a concern – especially if there are bassinet positions there (didn't check that, maybe somebody else here can advise) – and so my default is to nudge forward as far as I can from any such last row location. But there's no lav or galley directly behind row 11, just the first row of Y+, with the Y+ galley and lavs at the rear of the Y+ cabin, so if 11's all you can get then it's still not bad at all.

If its a flight to LAX, I would rather the pax in PE behind me than the people at the bar in front of my row 8 seat.

The flight I am travelling on is VA2. Thanks for the insight into the curtain issue.

Does the curtain separating PE FROM J Beside 11A remain closed throughout the flight?

Having done the Syd/BNE to LAX in both the old configuration and new, on the Old Row 5 was worth the extra noise in my opinion we where traveling with a small child and was great to have the space and privacy. Traveling in the new config I would go for back of the bus over behind the bar any day of the week. When we flew there was a group of 6 who sat at the bar the whole flight and got quite nosey I imagine this happens on most flights.

I always try for 2K. It's a bad seat for many people because it's behind the bedding cupboard (lots of access needed by busy FA's) but the bed is longer than the other seats (it extends into the space behind the cupboard). I am too long for the other seats, but 2K gives the necessary extra inches :)

I had 1K recently. Terrible! right across from the Lav and plenty of gallery noise

1K is 2K :) (there is no 1K because of the bedding cupboard).

It's essentially in line with the second row, so it's really not that close to the lavatory?

Anyway, I don't mind because it means it's more likely to be free and I can sleep.

My bad I was in 1G - Really was a terrible seat.

According to FlightRadar24 it looks like VH-VPE might be back in action from LAX to BNE on Friday night. This hopefully means tomorrow's VA7 (vh-voz) will be the last of the non refurbed flights.

I just got a flight aware notification that indicates similar. Which means folks, that I will NEVER get to experience that delightful and classic open flat bed - a loss that purists may lament.
But, I look forward to enjoying "The Business" seats with great excitement and anticipation.
