Advice on champagne

INHO Piper not within cooee of Mumm / Moët / Veuve / Taittinger / Bolly - lowest ranking of the cheaper well known labels - even at ~$30 with rebates etc I would still much prefer P-J via Bootleg at ~$37 - much much better for a few extra bucks - but as always YMMV.

Have been very quiet on the consumption CE so the home cellar in Perth is not going down. My son came tonight and took 3 bottles of red. The 1998 Chalambar should be ok. I think I have Veuve, Moët and Billecart waiting for a reason to get recycled.
I was wrapping up the SMSF 2016 accounting today so just had a light beer to celebrate as it was a brilliant year.
We now drink more in Sydney in one night than a whole year in Perth. My champagne drinking partner in Perth passed away and he hasn't been replaced.

It is $35 (2/$70) so slightly less acceptable.

Goto www.cashrewards.com.au and buy a WISH gift card at 5% off (can be used at Dan Murphy's, but also at any Woolies, BigW etc online and offline. Useful for getting 5% off your groceries if you shop at Woolies etc.)
Then, search for DM on cashrewards site, and click the link to DM. Gets you another 3.5% back on champers, 7% on wine etc. You get $$ you can deposit back into any regular bank account in 60-90 days. Should get you down to ~$30.

Generally the deals on "better" champagne require you to buy (at a minimum) a 6-pack. For mine, Pipers is like JW Black Label scotch - something well known, at a reasonably good quality level that no one's going to turn that nose up at (unless they are champagne snobs) - the safe bet you can't go wrong with. There are "better" mid-level champagnes out there (but it really depends on your taste - my SO is over Moet for example), but you'll be paying more for them.

Not sure if this is a good deal or not, however Piper Heidsieck at Dan's at 2 for $70.

I haven't tried it but where would it sit in the Vueve/Mumm/Bolly/Tait etc scale?

If you're in Melbourne, then Duval-Leroy for the same price at Boccaccio using AmEx is better :)
