What is Qantas so keen to speak to my daughter?

This Amex/Poli mismatch, as well as the lack of any record in the Qantas system (when you are contacting THEM rather than receiving a call CLAIMING to be QF) sounds very much like a scam.

All went well with my daughter's flight earlier in the week. Her bulkhead seat stuck, so the episode seems to have been a storm in a teacup, so to speak.

Many thanks to all who shared their wisdom.

It also proves that the supposed POLi error (that never was) had no bearing on the outcome as the eticket had obviously been issued against the Amex card to begin with.

I would still be very cautious and tell all your family if anyone calls from 'Qantas' with a message like that again to note down the time and phone number if it appears in the called ID on your phone, plus ask the caller for the QF booking reference and number to call back on. Ask them to put a remark of some description in the pnr with regard to the conversation you've just had so you can double check that is there when you initiate a call to QF.

While any scammer could always quote the QF reservations number of 13 13 13 they are less likely to know the pnr reference and if they do, a family members QF account may have been compromised.

I'd even go as far as asking for the caller's first and last name plus staff number "just in case I get cut-off" so it could be verified if need be.

I still think there's a POLi scam out there and you may have almost been a victim.
