I have booked on QF ticket: MEL-LAX-ORD and want to select a seat for LAX-ORD on AA. I don't remember how to obtain the AA booking reference from the QF booking reference.

Can anyone help?

checkmytrip.com doesn't list the AA code.

I was able to use my QF code to select AA seats on the AA website....have you tried that?

Thanks everyone.

I have always thought that QF ref would not work on the AA website. I have tried it and it wouldn't accept.

Frustrating but might have to call QF!

Interesting that you had issues at all when never an issue when using a QF frequent flyer number the booking is under!

Had a similar issue today, the QF PNR would not work on the AA Australian website, changed it to the US site and it worked.

That's interesting. I flew AA transpacific last week and I was able to get the AA reference number from Check My Trip without any problem. The AA ref number appeared against the AA Segment (not up the top of the page where the QF ref number was)

Spud, do you mean this? (Used LAX to ORD segment as example)

The confirmation number I have blanked out is the QF ref number.

Am I looking at the right place?

You can chuck your qantas PNR into checkmytrip.com and you should be able to see the AA booking reference.

In my experience this only works when there is an AA flight number somewhere in the booking. I think the OP has only QF flight numbers on AA operated aircraft, so no AA flight number. I'm not aware of checkmytrip, or an equivalent being able to show both references for a codeshare flight. I've only been able to call QF and find it out that way.

Yes, the whole itinerary only contains QF flight numbers.....

I recently had this issue, flying on an AA operated flight with a QF number. Checkmytrip didn't help, but I was able to put my QF booking reference into the AA mobile app, and it showed my booking and the AA booking reference.

Called QF (surprisingly answered the phone within 5mins rather than the usual 1hr+ - maybe benefits of getting to SG), they didn't have any other codes. So called AA in SYD and they gave it to me.
