Cash Upgrades at the gate on points tickets

Hi All,

Heading to AMS next week with 2 friends. We are in F and they are in J. All on points. Does anyone know if Etihad allow cash or points upgrades from J to F at the gate, amusing there is space in F cabin. I looked on Expert flyer last night and it shown just my wife and I are up there alone at the moment.

2nd Q, courtesy limo, is this available to F and J ticket holders keeping in mind we are points tickets. We are on the Gold Coast departing BNE...

Was in Athens last year on Etihad J travelling ATH AUH BNE. Some on points others on commercial fare. We were offered cash upgrade to F for the ATH AUH sector, but only for those on paid fare, not for those on points. I think it was EUR500.00 each.

Yep , I did exactly the same but in revers, paid ticket AUH-ATH cash upgrade to J. I wasn't using Point tickets then so I never asked about upgrades against rewards tickets. Oh well, I can always wander down to J cabin and say hello.

Sadly there is nothing there which answers your question.
Try calling for a "push upgrade"?

Ok will do. It's interesting though that I have stated all pax are on rewards seats and Etihad poster had requested I go to web site or call regarding upgrade. I am pretty sure that upgrades are not allowed on rewards tickets which I have very clearly stated so maybe I might be pioneering a change in the upgrade on points arena!!. Hope so, for my friends sake. Will let you know tomorrow/today . M

Anyone know of cash upgrades at gate for QF out of Sydney? I was offered one in Santiago a few years back Y to J for $1k, which I took up. Not looking forward to Y from
SYD to BKK this weekend.

I have occasionally seen them offered at check-in, but not at the gate.

I don't like your chances though if you're on QF23, as J is full on both Saturday and Sunday's flights.

Unfortunately, thats me Mattg. QF23 on Saturday. Fortunately, I have one night at the Hansar Bangkok before jumping on the Finnair A350 on Sunday. I hear J on that is almost identical to J on CX.
