Urgh. VA2 on May 19 has just reverted back to the old seat map...

as has mine on the 23rd...that said one day 'in the shop' would change it all again anyway, and I'd imagine that's not an unlikely possibility should something go wrong in the first few weeks

I know they want to get this thing in the air ASAP (and so do all of us) but it seems silly to me that they would move everything forward 1 day and adjust the seat maps for everyone, just so they could have it flying 1 day sooner. Now everyone who booked with the new seats have reverted to old and everyone who had old now seems to get new. Surly with the difference in seat numbers this would cause more headaches then its worth, just for having it 1 day sooner.

Also it appears VA2 April 30 still has new seat maps even though flight aware and flight tracker still show it at Lake Charles. While I feel sorry for the people who are on April 30 flight, I hope it means its still all out by 1 day and it reverts back to the original schedule again. This would mean I get the new config next week.

Does anyone know how long it takes for a single plane to do a lap? Basically if the new config is flying out May 1st. When would we expect it to do the next Syd > lax then Lax > Syd flight?

When running through dummy VA2 bookings on VA website the first date with the new config is now Wed 4 May. 30 April/1/2/3 May all show old seat map.

VA1 on 4 May shows new seatmap as does May 6 & 8

Most pax wouldn't even know the refurb was being done, let alone monitoring seat maps to make sure they got on the first refurb flight.

They would notice if someone originally in business receives an op downgrade.. due to having 37 business class seats in new config and the old only has room for 33.

My dreams of being on the new config are slowly dying :(

At least next time I fly I should be guaranteed to have it. Only down side is I probably won't be on this route for 8-12 months after next week.

I am seriously considering changing my flight LAX > SYD to the 10th just to get the new config. But only if I could be sure I was going to get it. I don't want to drop an extra couple thousand and delay my travels just to get the old config.

At this stage I am going to be on VA8 end of June and I hope this is sorted by then.

Hubby wants me to change our seats to 10A & 11A as hes hoping it has a mini cabin feel and PE would be behind us. Can someone confirm that the row behind us is not a bassinet row?

thanks,

Just did a dummy booking and calculated that VA2 LAX-SYD should arrive Wednesday 4/5. It will then become VA1 SYD-LAX for Wednesday 4/5. All the seats on flights either side of this date seem to reflect this.

VH-VPD is on it's way to Sydney in a couple of hours for it's first flight!! :D:D

Virgin Australia (VA) #2 ✈ FlightAware

So VA1 Weds 4 May/Fri 6 May/Sun 8 May and so on?

I am now confused, as the dummy booking showed first VA2 with retrofit departing LAX Monday 2/5 and arriving Wednesday 4/5. The price for a ticket one way in J was over $12,000 so I figured this was the inaugural flight. Prices either side of this date were back to the $6,000ish range.

Hmmmm I may be mistaken then

VH-VPH has gone in for its refit. Will be interesting to see how long it takes for this one to be completed

Thinking about this, I suspect it was to do with VPH's availability as the next slated conversion. Maybe there was some operational issue with it being in LAX which forced this change as I agree it's no something that would have been done lightly.

Every day I keep praying for a last min aircraft swap or delay causing it to move to the 5th of may. Can't believe I miss the inaugural flight by 1 day.
