F & Y or J & J ?????

For me J and J. Even though it's a much shorter flight in Y the comedown would be too much for me. Plus I hear EY Y class is fairly poor as economy goes.

J and J also gets you chauffeur drive both ends, which may be a good perk to have...

I agree, better a comfortable journey than a luxurious one followed by immediately slumming it.

I did that once, Frankfurt to SIN in F and then SIN-PER in Y and that last leg in Y felt like 20 hours! It was a full flight, I was squeezed in and it was just horrible, full of noisy people and screaming children, bad food and bad service. I guess it wasnt really that bad it was just the perception after the other 14 hours in luxury. I would rather just go J all the way.

Does that mean J all the way and back?. :)

Yes! Others are like, oh it's only 5hrs in Y but coming from F or J into Y will be regretted about 20mins before boarding, when the reality of what you have done hits.

I would do J + J. The J lounge in AUH is fine, and the fresh carrot juice will be reviving as will the little free massage.

PS, i often have to go from F or J to Y locally, that 1 hour in Y is almost excrutiating. ;)

+1 for J&J from me. As much as F would be awesome, I agree with others here who suggest that flying F then moving back to Y would be a bridge too far....

J & J.
I did J from MEL-AUH on EY and then Y to LHR and that leg was the most excruciating 7 hours stuck in a 3-4-3 layout with a bloke falling asleep on my shoulder.
The J seats in EY are terrific. I cannot stress enough how horrible falling from J to Y was on EY so i can only imagine how falling from F to Y would be.

J+J for me too; J will be very enjoyable and the gap between F and J is nowhere near as large as the chasm to hell that separates J and Y on Etihad.......

I've done SYD-AUH in J on VA (very enjoyable) but then onto Etihad in Y for AUH-LHR. Etihad are 10-across in economy on the 777 which (as a 6ft + rugby player) was purgatory.......

If your wife is set on experiencing F, and especially if it's your first opportunity to try the EY apartment, then how about J&J going and Y&F returning? Then you're starting the trip in Y and looking forward to what's to come.

I think J and J is winning. I would not really want to end the High of F with a longish flight in Y. J - will always be comfy.

J & J for me too.

6 hours is still a pretty decent flight length. And it will feel all the more painful after the high of F.

Any chance of splitting? She goes F+Y and you go J+J? Or is than a non-starter?

I think we will do J & J. The thought of Y just makes me cringe. We have plenty of F's under our belt. Haven't done 6+ hours in Y for many years and don't plan on it now, I just can't, just can't. I agree with some previous post , it would be a very regrettable decision .

No option for Y & Y? WHY?

Remember: Happy wife = Happy life :!:

Having a chat with the wife about some trip we are planning and she asks "Can we go in business class?". Hmmm....

Since you're not flying on the A380 I'd go J all the way and hope for an upgrade offer on the BNE-AUH leg.

I don't think you get the option to upgrade with cash from AUH if your on a rewards seat. Rather stupid as $500 is $500 in any language.

Worth a try. EY is very keen to accept cash for upgrades at the airport!
