I searched and could not find if it is possible to purchase additional baggage allowance after departure but before the return flight.

I have a points booking with a JQ / QF (International) / JQ ticket and am trying to decide if to purchase the extra allowance now or I can wait and see what I actually take with me.
The first leg I have 30KG allowance, the return 20 KG and expect I would be over this but until I pack etc. have no idea.
Anyone have experience or can provide a link to information that could help?

So whose metal are the flights on ie flight numbers, routings etc?

Was one flight booked through QF and the other booked through JQ?

Booking is on points and 1 ticket.
5/6 Feb JQ 722 HBA-SYD then QF23 SYD-BKK <- 30KG is shown as allowance
13 Feb JQ 30 BKK-MEL <- 20KG is shown as allowance

I then have on a seperate ticket MEL-HBA on the 14th as I could not book online BKK- xMEL - HBA and even calling was told no availability...
