10 of the Best Value Locations for Australian Dollar Travelers in 2016 | BootsnAll

I would personally have added South Africa to this list. The exchange rate is very much in our favour at the moment and it's also a great destination.

Having just visited Azerbaijan a few months ago, all I can say is ... damn! 25% devaluation against the A$ since I was there.

The article acknowledges that a number of those places trades in USD cash quite commonly, (or price their hotels in USD) so as usual, its a minefield.

I heard Australia is a good destination when the AU$ is sliding against foreign currencies, then i started looking and changed my mind.

Absolute rubbish.

Read an article yesterday that more tourism jobs have opened up in Queensland thanks to lower AUD as more overseas visitors arrive and locals don't go overseas.

Went to Bundaberg last weekend from Brisbane. Flights, 2 games of golf, car hire, cheap food and 2 nights motel accommodation. Cost ~AUD600-700. Way too expensive.

I know everyone does different things on holiday but I can spend ~2 weeks in Thailand with 6-7 games of golf for ~AYD2,500-3,000. Can do it cheaper.

Why do I holiday in Australia? The arrogance of the travel industry in Australia is astounding.

For bang for your buck SA is amazing value.

Just back from Nepal and it is even cheaper than it was 3 decades ago when I was last there.

Will be in France and Italy this August = ouch!

New Zealand is not a cheap destination for Australian travellers.
It certainly isn't, with virtual dollar parity (try changing some money and see if I'm not right).

Also, India's not that cheap if you want to stay in a half decent hotel, and don't even mention the visa fees (and hassle). And neither is Mexico that cheap, and don't mention the violence.

Canada's only cheaper than it used to be, but not cheap.

These lists are always subjective.

Malaysia is pretty cheap also!

Edit: They should have included Indonesia as well.

What would Myanmar be like in comparison to Laos and Cambodia, from experience perspective?

New Zealand is not a cheap destination for Australian travellers.

I do ok there if / when I stay with friends, but everything seems to be the same price as in oz. Except fuel, which traditionally is dearer ( even with a favourable exchange rate).
