Boeing 737 Max

I've always thought of the 737's as the "grunters" as they do all the grunt-work in the short haul area, whilst the 747, 787, et al have the luxury of the long prestigious legs. Interestingly just got of a SAS 737-800 ARN > FRA as they seem to be changing the fleet over to them.

I'm not sure how different it is compared to the NG series, but the nose profile looks much longer in all the shots i've seen (I've always thought the NG and Classics had fairly stubby noses, but the MAX seems to have a longer nose).

I'm also curious as to why they roll it out at night and not during the day (what are they hiding??).

Oh, and love the split wingtips.

In any event with QF presently upgrading all 67 domestic 737s, I wouldn't expect to see a new jet for a few years

If I never fly in another B737 I would be very happy. Give me an A320 family aircraft over a B737 family aircraft anyday....

The new 737 look sexy =D, and I really cant see Qantas livery on a A320 =[

I can't see QF going Boeing 737 again. They only extended the type when they got a great 737 deal from AA cancelling their NG order in 2001. With 99 A320s on order across the QANTAS group, i think it is a done deal...

I wouldn't be surprised if Airbus needs to reduce pricing on the their offerings to bring in some cash as the sales of the 380 is stalling and still owes a lot of money.

Whilst obviously not quite the same spend (it still was a lot) think the 747-8 is more of a disaster

More than one seat from an aisle in any aircraft is a real pain. But in general I agree that almost anything is better than the 707 derivative

Thanks for the post and pics. I had no idea another 737 was on the way.

The 320s are for JQ, 3K, VF, BL and GK.

I'll disagree with that. The development cost of the 748 is a fraction of that of the A380. Maybe even as low as 20%. Add to the fact that it was really designed as a freighter, any pax models they managed to sell were essentially a bonus. The program is far closer to breaking even then the A380.
