I did a search to no avail.

Just wondering if anyone has some experience with any HK travel agents? Any to recommend or not recommend? Looking to book a circle pacific out of HKG and I'm trying to get it all done online...

you'll likely not be able to use any of the smaller TAs as they all work in cash, you could try Swire Travel, Flight Centre HK, Wing On or Miramar

Thanks. Would like to report that I had a great experience booking a DCIR22 with Swire Travel, everything done online.
Interesting that initially there was no availability on QF12 but there was on the AA codeshare, same flight (AA 7364). QF12 was able to be waitlisted but I thought I'd just book the AA codeshare anyway and hope for the best.
About a day or so later, QF12 became available and was booked.
Interestingly enough, on EF (with default POS as USA), loadings were J9 C9 D9 I0 on QF 12 and J9 C9 D0 I0 with POS as the UK. US had F9 A6 and UK F9 A0! So I don't know about how they set their availability based on location of sale (I didn't look up availability on codeshare by location) but it would seem that they would restrict certain availability.
Issuing it on QF ticket stock was also no problem.
I was not charged a credit card fee AFAIK.

Flight centre gave me a quote which was slightly higher, did not have QF12 availability and had a 3% cc fee (they would waive if it I booked within 24 hours of them trying to sell me the flight on the wrong date and not offering a codeshare).

I don't know because I didn't get a quote from AA, ~AUD $260 in YQ is reasonable in my mind. If the tradeoff was more QFF/Aquire points and convenience, then I'm happy with that.

Kangol, thanks for the tip. I've contacted the agent, Dicky must've passed me onto another agent.

They are telling me payment has to be through a HK issued credit card or by bank transfer, was this the case for you too?

Nothing was mentioned about a HK issued credit card, mine is not and went through without any problem.
Would they be able to check if you told them you had a HK issued card and it wasn't one?

I've also posted into the other Circle Pacific thread but will provide more info here. I contacted Cathay Pacific here in Aus, and within one email had a booking reserved. Unfortunately as my itinerary fell just beyond 22,000 miles I'm probably not going to proceed.

Here's the email response I received:

If I remember correctly your itinerary had a YYZ-DFW segment. Could you just book CX to YVR and buy a separate Y ticket YVR-YYZ return in Y? This way the YVR-DFW segment should keep you under 22K miles.

This could be an option, the other option is to route through BNE rather than SYD.

I'm going to be quite time poor on that trip, adding in more segments may not be feasible. The only benefit of the DCIR was the extra SCs earnt on QF flights. A return flight on CX works better on price and timing, but is poor on SCs due to the SYD/HKG legs.

Good to hear, have you considered HKG-YVR-(surface)-DFW-DEN-LAX-SYD-HKG?
With your own YVR-YYZ-DFW as a separate ticket if you are time poor.
Or if not, then as suggested, a separate YVR-YYZ return, then picking up the trip from YVR to DFW.

I wouldn't want to miss out on YVR-DFW, because it's 120 SC.
DFW-DEN-LAX is 40+90 and DFW-LAX is 90 depending on time.

At this stage stage I have three options to work around:

1) DCIR22 if I can get the mileage down will be under $8k AUD. Haven't done the SC earn, but I imagine it would be about 600SCs

2) Return via HKG using CX is about $7k but only earns 440 SCs

3) Return via DFW or LAX using QF is about $8k but earns 520SCs

On balance the CX option is looking the best, and has the added benefit of avoiding US and giving me a HKG stopover.
