MEL-KUL via EK: lounge availability at MEL

Am considering using the EK option to KUL from MEL. The awful timing of these flights must be why they're so popular.

Leaving MEL at 3am, what does one do after the QF lounge closing time (11pm?).

And then returning into MEL at 2am-ish and lounges not opening until 5am.

Interested if others have been through this and what they've done.

I would suspect the Emirates Lounge will be open until departure?

EK lounge is obviously open for all EK departures. I cant think of a worse time to take a flight- too late to stay up for, top early to wake up for.

A friend flew this flight in F a couple of months ago. She was in the QF F lounge for a little while before it started closing. But the EK lounge hadn't opened so the were happy for her to wait for another half hour I think with a coffee as the staff started cleaning/closing up. Then moved to the EK lounge which is pretty good.

She was the only pax in F and I think the crew had a very easy time. I'm sure most pax fall asleep straight away.

Oh and she took this flight as it was the only award flight available to get her to Europe. Otherwise yes, can't think of a worse time.
