Indonesia Visa on Arrival at DPS

I'm off on a bit of a spontaneous weekend away for the OHs birthday. Haven't been to Bali for years...

What's the visa on arrival situation at the moment? I got a 7 day VOA on my last trip but I've read that might be a thing of the past.

Suggestions are that VOA is now USD35 and departure tax 200K?

Feels like throwing money away for a weekend .

It's $42 aud each so you can pay in Aussie money and yes 200,000 to leave which needs to be paid in rupiah.

Mamasans, barbacoa, murah putih, sarong and fantastic new places to eat!

I've done a weekend in Bali for my 30th 2 years ago and it was fantastic!!

It's not denominated in AUD, so it's USD 35 which should only be $37ish AUD. They don't use the best rate, so I'd rather have USD if you already have some.

From memory their rate is probably better than most AU cash forex places though.

Also, Bintan has a special USD 15 (?) VOA for 7 day max stay.

Yes I worked out conversion from au to us and by the time you factor in surcharges etc it works out very similar anyway....but a lot of people get caught out thinking they can only pay in US.....

The 7 day visa ( as far as I know) hasn't been available since last year or year before.

It's just the 30 day visa now...no option.

As others may google this thread, it's best to put the definitive amount in and its original denominated currency as the AUD will move. 7 day visa still good for Bintan, again more for the searchers than the OP.

Thanks for that. I've got US cash so it's probably easiest to just eat into some of my supply.

Annoying that the visa + exit tax is half of the one way flight!

An alternative is visa on board but this is limited to Garuda and available on just some long haul segments. SYD to DPS is okay.

I went to Bali a few weeks ago with some mates. My APEC card afforded me visa-free entry but my mates had to line up for the VOA. The line was huge so my friends gave a roaming Immigration officer AUD20 each and they were whisked to the front of the line and then through Immigration.

Nope. Queue for VOA and queue for immigration.i think you'll find that the huge queues are more an anomaly now than the rule, however. I haven't had any since the new airport opened.

And yes, in DPS it is 30 days, for most passport holders.

Flying in on JQ from BNE. So likely to be a plane load of the usual suspects. It will be interesting I suspect. At least I have a *class seat, so will probably get a head start on the hoards.

You can pay in other currencies, going rate for VOA was AUD $50 in August.

It's easiest to have USD.

As Per Dr Ralph, USD is easier. But the rate they give you is better than AU money changers in general, esp travelex, it seems, so I wouldn't get too hung up on it. Even better if you have a second passport from a country on the free list.

GA on board processing question - I have APEC but Cruiserette doesn't - I would assume MEL-DPS that A$ would be easiest? Anybody with any experience?

I'm fairly certain they no longer do the on board processing these days.
