Hi,
I'm flying for the first time with Emirates from Sydney to Dubai and keen to get an exit row, but I understand these are allocated at the discretion of the Emirates staff, any pointers or hints people would like to suggest? fwiw, my flight is at 6am.
Many thanks
Lisa

For 6am flight - stay at the airport hotel the night before, & be at checkin counter at 3am.
On the A380, the two seat exit rows (67 & 80), don't have a useable window. There is no window seat, just a wide gap that the seat behind will also share as an exit.

Thanks for this advice! A friend is travelling today to DXB and I told them to get out to the airport 3+ hours and wait in the queue to request an exit.

They were at the airport 4 hours before departure, second in line for check-in, and got the last exit row (presumably filled with pax originating in NZ).

So they're a happy camper for the next 14 hours to Dubai!

Thank you for the replies guys, I am back from my travels and managed to snag an exit row for all 4 legs of the journey. Happy camper.

Kind of related, was very underwhelmed by my experience on Emirates, the service was bordering on rude and the food was terrible. What's with all the excess packaging of the condiments??!?! Unless there's a real price difference, I don't think I will be travelling Emirates much in the future.

The strategies described in this thread, ie got there when checkin opened and requested. I few Sydney - Dubai - Barcelona - Madrid - Dubai - Sydney.

So I'm assuming you were one of the first 10 people in line each time?

Sydney - Dubai - yes, was 3rd in the queue when it opened at 3am.
Dubai - Barcelona - the guy said it was already allocated (maybe from the Sydney - Dubai leg)
Madrid - Dubai - not really, there was a big line for economy but I went to Business to checkin as I am a Qantas Club member
Dubai - Sydney - can't guarantee, guy in Madrid said they couldn't change it, I had to do in Dubai, when I was transferring, I asked (with about 2.5 hours to the flight) and they reissued my boarding pass.

Maybe I got lucky, but nonetheless very happy.
