Received the following email earlier today:

"Dear Dr Ralph,

Today Qantas announced our full year financial results and an update on the transformation of our business. I wanted to reach out to you as a valued member with an exciting update.

From 2017, eight new Boeing 787-9s will join the Qantas fleet. These next generation aircraft use less fuel and will open new opportunities for Qantas destinations around the globe. They also have unique customer features like improved cabin pressure, larger windows and technology to reduce turbulence.

It really is an exciting leap forward for Qantas and I look forward to sharing more updates as the development of our Boeing 787-9 aircraft and network progresses.

Thank you as always for your ongoing loyalty.

More detail on our result is available from qantasnewsroom.com.au.

Yours sincerely,

Lesley Grant
CEO Qantas Loyalty"

I feel so privileged that Qantas took the time to email me! Although I assume this went to everyone on the Qantas Frequent Flyer list?

Meh, marketing fluff...

All I read this as "in case you haven't yet read this on one of the numerous other news sites, both travel and non-travel related.... etc etc etc"
There was no special "scoop", no special offer, nothing which was not already widely publicised in the public domain

(wow I'm becoming cynical  )

I don't get the big deal about B787s, they don't feel that special to me but then again, only flew JQ on that plane so maybe that's why.

Now, if QF will ever bring the B747-8 then I will be very excited :)

The lower cabin pressure is good! But if they are as noisy as the 788 it's not gonna be much fun to fly.

I didn't see "more leg room in Y" so I'm not interested.

They are rubbish. Much prefer the A380.

I've flown on the NZ 787, thought it was really quite good. If QF can have a similar standard with those new Business suites it will be excellent IMO.

Did anyone email Lesley Grant back and ask them if the QF B789's will be 3-3-3 abreast or 2-4-2 abreast in Y ? Also would be interested to see the seat pitch, and if QF go for 4 class cabins, 3 class cabins or just 2 class cabins.

Return email address was [email protected] if you want to try.

Is there anything you haven't flown on PF ? :-)
