Hi, yesterday I flew Melbourne - Shanghai via Sydney Business Class, I presume due to a short layover my baggage was delayed in Sydney. i have been told I should receive it this afternoon but has thrown the start of my trip into disarray.

has anyone else been in this situation? What is the compensation etc (i only have a suit and it's a cool 35 degrees)

Thanks

Which airline? If Qantas, their customer charter says they will provide assistance for essential items if the delay is longer than 24 hours: Customer Charter | Qantas

However - QF is less generous than most airlines in this regards - and it is always worth asking at the airport, at the time of filling out the missing bag claim, what amount (if any) you can spend.

You may also be covered by your travel insurance for essential items - check you policy for limits and any excess you might need to pay.

Yes, and as long as they can tell me where my bag is and how long it will take to arrive (which they can't always - aargh!), I just relax and enjoy the guilt-free excuse to do some shopping without feeling self-indulgent.
