Trying to get the wife over to boston in October this year.

I know it is late :)

The best way I could figure to do it would be to use webjet.com.au which has return economy for $1400 (on AA operated by Qantas). I can then use the AMEX points (10,000 points = $100 credit).. so it will cost 140,000 amex points.

Is there any better way to do this? Woulda liked to have got her business/premium economy but doesn't seem possible in the time frame without paying 3-4x more on the seat.

Any suggestions?

Does it have to be using Qantas and or using existing points?

It's never too late unless the plane has left.

What immediate comes to mind is Cathay Pacific (Asia Miles) have flights to BOS, so you could do one stop via Hong Kong which would be very nice. The other advantage with CX you'll pay probably $300 ish in taxes/fuel on the award.. QF, SQ et al would be more like $1000.

Unfortunately it's 110k one way and 175k for return for business, might need to buy a few thousand in woolworths gift cards :)

There is limited availability by the looks, some days only F on the transpac, although you can also waitlist - quite often availability will open up around 10 days prior.

Alternatively mix and match, buy two one-ways, one on points etc. Transfering to SPG and AA is an option but you'd have to find a availability on a direct and hope it holds.

any chance you can look up ADL-BOS leaving on 13th Oct returning on 21st of Oct? :)

im not a member of Asia Miles, so will need to join

Nothing in business but premium Y on the 12th HKG-BOS and BOS-HKG on the 21st is available. I suppose if the alternative is paying for Y, it would still be a big step up.
