Hi all, I am trying to book hotels via Virgin Australia link with Agoda. It isn't giving me the option of paying with AMEX. Does anyone know if this a permanent change? I won't be booking with them if it is. thanks.

Interesting... Just tried to book and noticed this as well.

You could use paypal and have paypal account debit your amex

That's really tedious, you really have to wonder about the value of a corporate Amex card when you just can't use it in so many places. Even more ridiculous: our company chooses to fly Virgin yet our corporate Amex is a Qantas card.

I just made a booking for Berlin and Visa / MC / JCB /AMEX / PalPal are all listed as options in the drop down to be selected

May be the hotel you are trying to book does not allow Amex?

This. If you choose pay at hotel it can restrict payment options.

But why book a hotel with Agoda anyway? It's going to be cheaper to book direct... Especially if it's an independent hotel.

The Agoda rate for this hotel is actually better than booking direct. Plus lots of VA points.

Anyway, Agoda responded to my email saying they do take AMEX and to send them a screen shot. Will update when I receive a response.

Not always the case. Some hotels do not budge on their rack rates.

"Not always the case. Some hotels do not budge on their rack rates."
I found that true especially for Singapore hotels

Not always the case. Some hotels do not budge on their rack rates.

Most hotels cannot budge on rates as they are locked into rate parity agreements with OTAs. Call the hotel direct and you'll get some stupidly high price no matter who you speak with.

This is where stayangel comes in...

Yes but not for prepaid <AUD50/night hotels. ;)

This was annoying me so I sent an email. The response:

Dear Valued Customer,

Although we show all of the payment types that we can offer on our homepage you will only be able to use the payment options that are available for a particular booking at the time of booking creation. Reasons for payment types not being available include technical issues, decisions made by the Payment Gateways or internal commercial decisions.

We apologize for the inconvenience.

Thank you.

Regards,
Agoda Customer Support Team
