Suggestions for earning 60 Status Credits

I was hoping I could get suggestions on how to do a MR out of Sydney to accumulate 60 SC's.

Appreciate any advice.

SYD-CHC in J @ $599 earns 60 SC's (sale ends May 12th).

CHC-SYD use points (14300+NZ$53) or there is a sale ending Thu for June travel from NZ$159.*

Note that Points+Pay can be used each way with the sale.

SYD-CHC (Business) for 77300 points + $96, still earns a WP 5300 points and 60 SC's.
CHC-SYD (Saver Lite) for 400 points more (14700) and earns a WP 1300 points back and 15 SC's).

My other option is to look at what would earn 30 SC's and take my partner with me who presently family pools her points & SC's to my account.

I would suggest SYD - AKL on NZ, the Koru should have been upgraded/updated by the end of May.
$$$ I know, but plush is best!
That would give you a wide body ride, where as SYD - CHC is narrow (VA/NZ), or transfer/transit AKL if you want, for a wide body experience.
I would go SYD - AKL anyway, have flown SYD - AKL in narrow and wide body, wide wins hands er, up.

With pooling you need to find an inexpensive destination of 750+ miles ...

For us Melbourne dudes OOL is generally a good option, fitting that criteria.

From SYD I cant say ...

Just did a test, even at whY rates, its a pity its so, SYD - MEL is 456 miles giving 10 SC, MEL - PER is 1670 miles giving 20 SC and PER- SYD is 2037 miles giving 20 SC all in whY.
That is if the OP wants el cheapest, giving all a total of 50, still under 60.
Even SYD - BNE and then BNE - PER then PER - SYD all gives an abysmal 50.
If one sector was J/C/D, then maybe it could make to more than 60 if the OP does not want to go overseas.

This one might work, SYD - DRW is 1960 miles giving 20 SC, DRW - PER is 1647 miles giving 20 SC, and PER - SYD is 2037 miles giving 20.

If my partner is family pooling to my account, would I earn a total of 60 SC's if we both flew SYD-ADL via MEL and then return ADL-SYD?

we just earned 70 SC (35 sc each) for syd-ool-mel-syd...$200 pp....we pooled....this seems to be the cheapest route, and make sure its at least 3 weeks out...

and we tried out syd/ool/mel lounges.....cheap day out ..bonus

Was each sector on a separate ticket or did you book a multi-destination ticket?

i did each sep...but i first checked webjet to see what routes and pricing they have....as sometimes they do have 1 stop flights ie syd-port mac-ool for cheap.

but i just found the flights and added them all together in one booking. this is mine...

I knew you could pool points but I didn't know about SCs. So as we are travelling SYD-LAX-SYD next month (four of us) I can get 320 SCs? Are pooled SCs valid towards requalifying for Gold? I'm not sure what other use SCs actually have of course!

Just means I don't have to worry about chasing flights to get the SCs to requalify by October if that's the case.

Yes SC are pooled, aslong as u clicked points and SC when u set up family pooling, you have the option to either pool them or not. and yes they count toward re qualifying. I just cant remember if pooled flights count to the required sectors off the top of my head.. I dont think they do. but you only need 4 of these for gold, and u will have 2 just from this trip

Yes, if selected in family pooling both SC and points will pool and count toward requalifying. Eligible sectors do not pool. These are where you actually fly the sector and are defined as follows :

Eligible Sector means a Flight Sector:

(a) that has been flown;
(b) that has not been booked as a Reward Seat;
(c) where Virgin Australia is the Marketing Carrier.

You can earn SC on Delta no problem and they also can be pooled.

So to clarify,

Status Credits can be earned on VA and their partners as listed on the velocity website. These count toward your requalify amount of 400 for Gold status

Eligible Sectors ( of which you need 4 for Gold ) can only be earned if the flight meets the criteria of post #15 above.
