For those who have been comped status

Retaining status is easier for us Sandgropers due to the lack of international Q flight options and so retaining SCs on code shares.

Suggest you all move to PER to replace our declining FIFO passengers. :)

I remain dubious of any rumours that come from posters with 2 posts to their name.
That said with LTG, I always have a soft landing from WP.

Sorry for resurrecting an old thread;

It seems I have been comped Gold with QF for next year (Dec 14 - reassessment date); with only 535 credits to my name, but I have travel planned from now to the end of the month to meet the threshold for this year.

Question is: If I meet the target for this year, but not the next - will I have a chanced of being comped next year??

Short answer is yes.

I got comped Platinum 2 years running yet each time I made the target in my own right. If you reach the target they remove the entry about being comped. Not going to test it anytime soon though.

Whats the record for being comped?

I was comped silver despite being 180 SCs short.

It's quite a generous comp. I've been silver for about 4 years.

Let's hear 'em.....

Re: Whats the record for being comped?

That should make you happy, dude.

Seriously, i fell short this year for the first time and appreciated comp.

Please excuse my ignorance, but what do you mean by "comped"? Does Qantas bump you up to Silver even if you're a couple of SCs short?

Re: Whats the record for being comped?

Pretty much. BUT you probably need to be doing a bit of regular flying to
Position yourself for the opportunity.

Or live in a city that they pulled out of and have re-established services to ;)

Re: Whats the record for being comped?

Comped Gold this year with 60 SCs last year. Thought they misread it as 600.

Previous year was also comped Gold with ~500SCs on the soft landing policy.

About 2100SCs the year before. I think they take a few years into consideration but only guessing.

Re: Whats the record for being comped?

Hi Guys, I've done 50 flights so far this year (MEL-->ADL) and i'll be reaching approx. 1200 SC's before my flights end. I usually do 2 international trips a year, but this is my first real high volume travel under the QFF. Is there any likelihood that I would get bumped to Platinum?

No I don't think so. If you aren't already Platinum the qualification level is 1400SC never heard of anyone getting it for less.

Hi The Mountain and welcome to AFF. As noted by Princess Fiona there hasn't been a documented instance of someone being upgraded to a higher status.

So keep flying and here's hoping you'll reach WP.

Oh and you might want to edit your post, MLB airport is in Florida USA, I'm assuming you mean MEL right here in Victoria, Australia.

Thanks Hvr - I should probably know that by now given that it's practically my second home :D.

That's a generous comp too. Percentage wise, the same as mine.

I had one QF flight all year, no ~ flights.

Whilst I'm not ungrateful for the comp, it won't be of much use as domestically PS is not worth anything and I've no international travel planned.

A 'comp' usually refers to QF extending the status for another year even though the member has not earn the requisite SC to retain the status.

QF rarely (if ever) bumps a member to the next status level if he/she does not meet the qualification requirement. So no bump up to silver if one does not reach the SC threshold.

Thanks for clearing that up.

Re: Whats the record for being comped?

I'm interested in peoples experiences here. Looking at a "lean year" and unlikely to make 1200SCs - more like 8-900, so hoping the supposed 3 year average works in my favour (I should be around 3600 over the past 3 years)
