I need to book 2 x one way tickets to the States as we are relocating there for good! I would dearly love to fly QF but of course the Business class price does not meet the budget set by the company. To add to it all we need to be there by early June. Does anyone have any suggestions for getting the best Business price possible?...Such as midweek flight, multiple stops, maybe Premium Economy ticket with a points upgrade? I am pretty sure I know what the answers will be but hoping for a miracle suggestion :)
Looking forward to anything you may have to offer

Trying Looking at Flying VIA Nadi to LAX on Fiji Air they often have good deals. You have covered other options such as PE and UG and of course weekdays can be cheaper at times.

Current Fiji Airways prices are as per below for departure on 3rd June

CX MEL-HKG-LAX PEY is in the range of A$2600-2700 during the first week of June.
The J cabin about A$6400.

From PER I would have said fly PEY to TPE on a daytime flight, overnight and the next day fly J to the USA.

Happy wandering

Jetstar J to Hawaii? then onwards from there? I guess it depends on the company budget. This would probably be the cheapest, but not a true J product

my one and only tip and the only one you need:

get a Y fare out of Aus to a destination, and then a separate J fare from there.

Unfortunately it seems times have changed and one way fares on mainstream carriers are now cheaper than return! Otherwise I'd offer a tip of investigating the price of return fares as well, if the company permits. When we relocated to Singapore we got a return fare for $100 cheaper than the one way fare.

I'd go with Ansett's fare on Fiji Airways for $2662. Is that within budget?

Flying Jetstar to HNL followed by your choice of carrier to LAX is going to mean an inferior product seat wise, and about the best you'll get is the equivalent of a standard Qantas domestic business class seat, with limited recline.

Thanks everyone there were some options there I hadn't considered. If I fly Fiji Air can I still use the First Lounge? Promise to not wear thongs

Not sure on that one but they do use the Melbourne J lounge from what I have heard.
