EK cuts PER to double daily from July 2015

I disagree, EK seem to be able to throw the 380's on other routes in similar positions.

I don't know of any other EK 380 route that serves a city with a population of only 1.7M people. The mining boom is over, I fear your 380 flights will shortly follow.

Auckland? Shows you how shallow your reasoning is considering the number of A380 flights they receive.

Oh I see I've hit a raw nerve with the PER dwellers.

AKL is a tag flight. It's the same aircraft that departs from SYD to DXB to pick up more pax. Edit: MEL-DXB also.

If they start running direct AKL-DXB flights then you will have a point.

As the J product on the EK 77W is so poor for long haul flying, they have to introduce the 388 to compete. I have stopped flying EK (and therefore QF) from PER almost solely for this reason. I am sitting in a nice CX J seat in FRA on my way home to PER as I type. The CX 77W J seat makes the EK 77W J seat look like a W seat at best.

It's not about having aircraft available, it is about the economics of running a jet so large if you can't fill it and get good yields.

You fail to understand the very big VFR market in Perth.

Many expats form the UK live in Perth, and have lots of friends and relatives visiting.

Plus lots of UK retires spend summer months in Perth.

You fail to understand how an airline is run, and I can guarantee you it has very little to do with leisure travellers.

In fact, Perth's metro population is now over 2M... we're not a hick town anymore! :)

Funny I was reading somewhere recently that the population of PER was predicted to overtake the population on BNE sometime in the near future.

The ABS have a number of different scenarios that have various assumptions. Their "Series B" projection shows Perth overtaking Brisbane in 2028 when they both hit 3M people. I dare say they actually have no idea... :)

Zurich is smaller than Perth and is getting a 2nd daily EK A380.

Comparing Perth to Zurich, one of the main business hubs in the world, is really very entertaining.

This is not a dig at Perth or its people, however the amount of capacity is really unsustainable considering the small and now declining travelling population.

Not a raw nerve CFWM, we know we get screwed in comparison to Melbourne & Sydney. The QF/ EK issue is just another example.:D

We with the NT & Queensland produce more than you do - you do the paper pushing.

In WA especially, we are hurting at the end of the construction phase of the latest mining boom, have lower royalties for the short term. Temporary and will sort themselves out.

We are also more permanently getting screwed on GST revenue with only 35% being paid to us to keep you Easterners subsidised.

Lang Hancock was a bit batty but his old idea was right.

If we did a Scotland and threatened a referendum for succession, would we get a better deal?

PS: We don't cheat on venues in Sheffield Shield finals by going to Hobart for the rain. I know it was those Mexicans and not Sydney (as NSW weren't good enough to make the final).

So don't worry, you didn't hit a raw nerve. We were already paranoid

Nearly all EK 380 routes serve a city of about 1.5M people. :-)

(nb: said in jest, please don't spend time explaining the concept of a hub)

You've clearly not looked very hard then. Dusseldorf; Population well under a million. Milan. under 1.5 million. etc.
