Currently I've got SQ F to JFK in october

I can see QFF award for EK F to JFK on the same day of travel.

Would it be worth swapping the flights?

I'll be trying out SQ F to Tokyo in June, so like the idea of being able to try another airline F product, and the bar area on EK does seem to be a unique experience, along with showering at 35000 feet.

Good and bad is I get to JFK about 12 hours earlier. Gives me a whole first day to do some exploring, but then I'm up for an extra night of expensive accommodation.

SQ F is hard to give up, but I read a lot of good things about EK F so....

If I do swap I'll prob never get to experience the QF F lounge

Would dearly love to be confronted with this dilemma - would take EK in a heart beat simply because I have not tried it. Shower / bar both absolute positives that I would love to experience - go with EK.

I have tried a couple of times and would highly recommend it however never done SQ so cant compare. Go EK

I can't comment on F class but what ever gets me more time in New York gets my vote

EK F if you haven't flown it. SQ F if you have flown EK.

EK will give you chauffeur drive at both ends, whilst SQ does not.

In 98 days time I will be on SQ F and 23 days after that will be on EK F :) :) Counting the days as we speak :) :) :)

yeah, was thinking it would be nice to get the royal treatment with the chauffeur.

Just wish I would get QF to Dubai as I'd always hoped to try the spa treatment at QF F lounge.

From what I've read the EK F lounge in Dubai isn't impressive, so I'm not so worried about just having a comfortable transit time.

If you haven't tried it, which you haven't, then EK F

However, once you have tried both then the following applies in this order:
SQA380 F
EKA380 F
SQ77WN F (The new 777 F product)
SQ777W F
EK777W F

Basically once you have tried both, SQ is superior

Keeping in mind with SQ you will also stop in FRA and if you get out (they don't at MUC) you'd only get the LH Senator lounges not the F lounges or FCT so no rubber ducks. I did EK to LAX and it was great. Well both airlines F are very very good, for the longhauls though you can't beat the bar at the back and shower service. Combined with the QF F lounge for departure and chauffeur as mentioned you could argue the whole EK offering is better, but SQ F is fantastic. The DXB lounge is quite alright, food very good standard it's just too large so feels impersonal. Why not book both and sit on it? Or better yet find QF F availability JFK-SYD and use that as a positioning flight for the other one ;) If you want a serious answer then yes probably EK otherwise consider which award is better value and which program you'd rather keep points in for the next flight. Probably try both so you too can then have an on the fence opinion.

SQ suites - are fantastic - comfy bed and great food wine
EK suites - are excellent too. Shower is nice but a bit limited with a timer. I never went to the bar which is at the back of J. Why bother when the staff are on hand with everything you could need. The electric minibar and the bling - great stuff
Short answer - I loved both - It really is a first world dilemma

Why not sample a few?

SYD-SIN-FRA-JFK with SQ
JFK-DXB-HKG with EK
and HKG-BKK-SYD with TG ....

or SYD-SIN-FRA-JFK SQ, JFK-DXB EK and DXB-SYD QF ?

I know TG F is pretty much 2nd, maybe 3rd, tier F class but you can't beat spending 40K UA miles HKG-BKK-SYD. And sampling the fuss of TG ground experience whilst in BKK transit. Also some HKG-BKK legs will allow you to fly the A380.

Did TG F on the way home last month. Was quite nice, though the outdated 747 product is really only as good as a decent J product these days.

Just annoyed with myself for not having enough time to enjoy the spa. Oh well, hopefully another trip will present the opportunity before they can F on the Sydney route

Did you find the EK seat "cramped" they seem to have a lot of suites on the upper deck compared to most other airlines. I'm tall, not wide.

I think the lure of the bar is the social interaction, which may or may not turn out to be great, but so many reviews talk about it and so far nothing negative about the experience. Sounds like a good way to while away an hour or 2 on a long flight.

I feel like I'm being decisively indecisive at present

Personally SQ,being ex PPS and with EK I only got to Gold. So more familiar with our Asian cousins.

EK too much bling.

I go to enough bars on the ground.

Currently writing this from 1A on a Lufthansa 747-8i from FRA-JFK.

Flew to Europe via EK A380 in F the whole way last week. Have probably done 20+ sectors on that product, and more with SQ A380 suites.

I only flew EK because I'm on a QF ticket and wanted to fly LH today TATL (transatlantic), and QF A380 F home via LA. If given the choice EK vs SQ I'd take SQ.

The shower on EK is fantastic, but to be honest I find the rest of the product old and for my taste almost visually offensive, service inconsistent and food just terrible (sometimes inedible).

In my opinion, and some of us differ here, SQ is superior on all fronts except the shower and size of bathrooms. For what it's worth, I'd also book the SQ 77W over the A380 as the closed suites aren't important to me, I prefer less people in the cabin and more personalised service. I've always found SQ's service better on the 777 vs the A380.

That said, flying almost monthly return in F somewhere in the world I think LH offers the best and most consistent F product outside of the EY Apartment - which I haven't tried.

For you, I'd book one way on SQ and one way on EK so you can sample both, that way you can work out which one you like the best for next time as we all have different tastes :-)

I'm actually trying OZ F on the way back LAX to ICN then J to SYD. Very happy they'll have their Smartium seats on the SYD route by then.

I'm starting to lean towards keeping my SQ booking, especially as it sounds like as they roll out their seating refresh there'll be less F so I might as well enjoy it while I can.

Hopefully I can try EK to / from Europe next year in May, though I'm really hoping to score a QF F for that.

You're the first person to say anything bad about their food. Most reviews I've seen give it a thumbs up.

I guess it's subjective, but having had so many flights on EK in F, not a lot can change my opinion that the food is consistently terrible. I'd advise eating in the lounge beforehand ;-)
