I have just renewed my membership with Amex Qantas plat card and accepted the 23000 ff points in leu of yearly fees.
i have some flights booked with Qantas and paid for flights, last year. Using my FF points it took years to accumulate and going RTW sadly economy, I would have loved business class but we would be to old to get insurance by the time we reached the level.
If I book accommodation via Qantas does this qualify for a business class lounge complimentary pass or any other suggestions appreciated.
this is a great site for info, even for infrequent flyers.
cheers Mystic

Just to clarify - you want to know if by booking accomodation on your AMEX you will get a complimentary business lounge pass?

I have never been offered a complimentary lounge pass when booking anything on my Amex Qantas Platinum including accommodation.

Unless the purchase included a special deal for lounge access, I can't see this being ever offered.

Having said that Amex have recently written to me offering free use of their new Amex lounge at SYD as so am a platinum card holder.

Not it sure how happy Qantas will be that Amex are offering a separate lounge to the Q lounge to clients on a jointly branded card.

Unless an AFF'er is flying at the same time and has offered available guest access at the threads on the site OR you have family/ friends with enough complimentary passes, I reckon you are out of luck.

Cheers

Chris

Who cares?!? My wife was ecstatic when I found her Amex card (which she never uses) could get her Bronzed cough into a lounge before her solo RTW jaunt. On the down-side that just gives her another reason not to take me next time.

Sorry a little confusing. Not sure how to explain.
Each year when I renew my Amex/Qantas card then make a booking with Qantas I am sent 2 complimentary lounge passes.
As I have made my air bookings and not sure what else you can use to get the comp pass, even if it is only to use the lounge in Brisbane.

Did you renew ?

If so and they haven't sent you comp passes have you called them? 131313?

Or, if the passes are sent by AMEX ring them instead. Was receiving the lounge passes an ongoing part of part of you holding this card with AMEX? - If so, check that is still the case.

G'Day Spruce. I'm with you and had the same card. Pretty sure it was on QF flight purchases only (taxes on a classic rewards should work too). I had the 23k point offer too and thought it must be based on purchase volume etc but obviously it was the same across the board.

You should be sent the complimentary lounge passes after annual renewal and spend on Qantas? I don't think it's limited to spend on flights only. Spend on Qantas hotels should be OK as long as it is charged via Qantas merchant account.

If you have qualified for the complimentary passes and they have not been sent then you need to get in touch with Amex. It took me >12 months a few years back to get 2 complimentary passes I was owed. Phone calls back and forth.
