The old girl (VH-OJA) is not looking good for a 25yr old

You'd be unlucky to not get a refurb going by the last month or so.
I hope so. The PE seat map was showing a refurb'd bird (I think) but I've just upgraded to J on points so I can't see the seat map any more. I'll head into the airport in a few hours to try and grab a good seat.

You never know, they are a 744 down when OJS decided to take on a catering truck, truck won

They are unlucky, got OEB, I would be calling QF to get one of the old F seats ASAP

Yep, it was a Skybed Mk1. My first experience with it, and yes, you do slide down... :)

On landing in Sydney, we went past OJA being stocked by a catering truck so presumably it's going somewhere (or just returned).

Returned from NRT this morning and is operating the 107 to LAX as we speak.

When they get rid of OJA, OJI......and eventually leave only the 9 left, they are really going to struggle, considering how hard they will be working the A380S and no spares to come to the rescue.

Any chance they could bring forward 2 of the outstanding 8 A380 orders? There are 2 almost completed A380s stored at TLS (F-WWSL [MSN162] and F-WWSN [MSN167]) which were meant for Skymark.

Not quite that simple - what spec is the interior, which engines do they have, what is airbus willing to sell them for (compared to waiting for existing orders/options).

On top of the internal QF funding / return on investment issues.

They are -841's. So, RR Trent 970. Same as the engines QF uses with different settings.

I know it's so unlikely that it's hardly worth posting, but would rather they got a good deal off Boeing for some replacement 748's :p

Much more reliable! ;)

No chance but they're beautiful creatures. I made my pilgrimage up towards the "other" end (Qantas always seem to park down the other end) of the Hong Kong terminal to get a glimpse of Lufhansa's 748i. It looks fantastic!

It's one of the few places in the world where one can see a 748, a 788, and an A380 parked at the same terminal at the same time.

The media release state that the pilots are doing sim training for that ferry flight. The runway is 1800m long. I suppose the OJA will never be able to fly out again.

Great news and I'm not working that Sat so I'll be there with a camera. Now I've got to work out where the best vantage point will be.
