Perth Airport - Rail Link

Its apparently running under our house along Matheson Rd ( Horse Area) in Ascot

I disagree. The Hills has long been neglected when it comes to public transport in Perth, so the connections it will provide will greatly encourage PT use and will ensure the line is being used and can make a profit. And it would be pretty much certain that there would be dedicated services for the airport only, and then services serving Forrestfield and the airport.

And while they are building it they should make certain that the ability to extend past Forrestfield to the Armadale and Mandurah lines remains possible in the future without massive teardowns and rebuilds.

Then there would be incentive for people south of Perth to take the train, rather than drive to the airport. Alas I'm way too far south to consider that option.

I hope there is not one shekel of federal money being spent here. There are more deserving public projects.

Hmmmm... sounds like bait for a "WA contributes $XX billion in GST revenue - it's about time we had a slice of the pie" argument. Just hang on while I grab my popcorn and a seat with a good view... ;)

Midland highway, Tasmania
Tasman highway, Tasmania
Royal Hobart Hospital

Isn't federal money going into HBA INTERNATIONAL Airport as well.
And WA Royalties for Regions funds might speed up the HBA VA Lounge

Federal money is spent on roads all the time, why would you object to public transport?

HBA runway extension - promised.

I don't think anything will speedup the VA lounge at HBA ;)

Roads everyone needs and uses. They can even carry buses for those inclined. enough has been spent on the roads to Perth airport as it stands. Rail is a folly. It makes no money in Sydney and Melbourne won't even touch an airport line.

Perth is in recession and dives in!! Delusional. Next they will be complaining the tax burden is too high.

OTOH, the automobile traffic in Perth is becoming legendary. I suspect I retired (and left Perth) just in time. I wonder where traffic would be without the Joondalup and Mandurah lines in Perth. Rumor has it that the rail system could really use more rail cars. Will we see the new bus route to the international terminal before the new rail line is finished?

By the way there is research that there is not a complete correlation between reduction in class size and improved educational outcomes.

Correct. It's counterintuitive - but that's like many things. There are far more influential factors on educational 'outcomes' than class size alone.

I hear Perth is a ghost town these days so traffic will be greatly reduced. I also expect all your 457's have all shot through.

Next boom.......10 years?
