My mother (QF Gold for several years now)works for government and they purchase fully flexible Y fares and my mother almost always upgrades to business using FF points. For past year she has booked and paid for her own business class travel taking a year off work and spending my inheritance. Work changed the dates for travel, my mother called QF before receiving email verification that the upgrade had gone through to cancel upgrade request, or possibly transfer upgrade to new flight. She spoke to initial QF rep, then her supervisor as well to see if the 5,000 points could be transferred or waivered but basically told it's a policy of QF which it is, but my mother isn't happy. Is this a case of like it and lump it? My mother is having to move for work so the extra baggage allowance would really come in handy. QF has always looked after us, but i said i would refer this one to the experts and in future don't book too early for a domestic business upgrade using points. It was a BNE-DRW flight. Any comments appreciated. Has anyone else been stung?
