I have always wanted to go to the Faroe Islands! I think it is still a while away though :(

Having been to nearly 50 countries, there is still so much more to see:cool:....I'm trying to make it to the Travelers' Century Club before I fall off my perch:shock:. If I can manage 3 new countries per year, it will take me another 17 years to get there!!

Hadn't seen that before :). I'm currently aiming for 5 new countries a year. Club membership in 7!

(Although the TCC would be more credible if there were chapters in more than 4 countries! )

The NYT article makes it very very very very very tempting to just book something right now and go, yet at the same time it's quite depressing that there are soooooooo many more places to go to that I haven't been. Now if only my numbers come up in this week's lotto - I'd promise to travel more and visit 10 new countries each year, and make it to that Club in 5.5 years time.

Sorry any list that has Adelaide at number 24 just isn't right.Funny thing though I have been to 24 of the list.A couple extra this year.

Of course Adelaide is on the list - very underrated city - even nicer now we've had some summer rain but sometimes we just don't want people to know what a great place it is because they might spoil it :)

Seems reasonably well thought out ... with nth American bias, as you might expect.

RAdelaide at #24!!

Rep. Georgia, Baku Azerbaijan, Medellin Colombia and Cuba all on my planner already for 2015 :)

Nice link RF. As you know, my preference is places where I can rent a car and go off to do my own thing. However, as you also know, Colombia, where Juddles does not recommend renting a car and driving, is part of my DONE5 later in the year. Medellin, Juddles' location, is front-and-centre of that visit; Minnesota, Arizona and Namibia is where I will really cut loose on my preferred way of doing things on that trip.

Same here, and the funny thing is: I don't even really know why I want to go. It just seems a fascinating place with dramatic landscape, where no one else ever goes.

Regarding Adelaide: It's definitely my favourite capital city in Australia to visit (well, on par with Hobart actually), so I completely agree. But please, everyone else, feel free to stay away!! :D

I'm planning to do Medellin as a day trip or overnighter during my Sth American trip in April/May. Shame we can't organise a AFF meet-up with juddles. THAT would be a hoot!

I love the freedom of self-drive but am a bit more conservative. I figure if a) the places are very un-westernised AND 2) the chances of police/authorities you may meet speaking English are low, then I get a local driver (like Azerbaijan!). Added cost of course, but you do find out a lot more about the place and get more time on site, as they park and look after the car!

I certainly wouldn't want to rent a car in Azerbaijan, either! I omitted from my list the Baltic States which I'll visit after Colombia and before Namibia - and where I will rent a car.

I opted not to go to Jordan this year. While I'm sure it would be fine, the Middle East is just a bit too disrupted these days and there was talk a little while back when I was planning & booking that IS may start to become active there.

Only 11 for me :( Better get a hurry on a see some other continents.

i was there on a 7 day tour a couple of months ago, current IS climate made no impact... make sure you visit Wadi Rum for an overnight tent stay, one of the best experiences of my life

ps...I'm at #30 on the TCC, and i haven't even been to Tasmania!
