Dear Jetstar,

I fly with you around 40 times a year. I think that your seats are more comfortable than VA and I'm ok with bringing my own entertainment for the SYD-DRW flights and having something to eat at home or the airport before the flight. I'm also ok with the $32 you charge for the QF points and SCs on DRW-SYD (and vv) sectors and the extra $26 you then charge me when I select an exit row seat. You also ply my usual DRW-SYD-DRW route at times which really suit me.

What I would really like you to do is let me make bookings quicker and with less frustration.

I don't want any baggage (and yes before you ask when I said that I didn't want baggage the first time I was sure about that), the $9 ipad, the $12.95 QBE travel insurance you have preselected for me, nor do I want to make a donation to Starkids. I don't need any car hire, or hotels or activities or anything else. I know that you make a lot of money off the extras - heck when you are on sale I can spend another 40% on top of the base fare just in the plus bundle for the points and the exit row. I love your low fares; I really do - but can I perhaps pay an annual subscription or an additional fee per booking to be able to make bookings without having all the stuff I don't want thrust in my face - clicking through all the pages and deselecting the stuff you have preselected for me really slows down the booking process. Over at QF I can make a booking in about a quarter of the time it takes me to do the same with you.

Yours sincerely,
TripleB

Yes! An express option would be amazing!

Select Flight > Add Bundle > Select Seats > Select "Skip to Checkout" > Pay. :D

the mobile site is much more streamlined

or better yet just avoid JQ altogether :)

Thanks for the tip - I will try the mobile site.

Sadly QF have canned the 19:30 SYD-DRWs every day but Sunday and the 1am DRW-SYDs - which is my weekly commute of sorts. So it's JQ or bust. That's a little bit of a lie - I typically cheap out and save the money and take JQ on the evening SYD-DRW and then pay up for QF on the redeyes.

I too hate preselection, and also the credit card surcharge.
Edit: ooo, didn't realise Jetstar takes/accepts Poli payments... used that on a VA booking, seeing that JA takes Poli, ahhhh... sorry, carry on!

I'm happy to put up with all of the extra stuff since I'm getting such cheap flights, but I do think that the automatic selecting of things is somewhat rude. Presumably they just chasing people who're in a hurry and don't notice that they're paying for something extra.

QF has been just as bad lately with all the add ons. I've been stung with a couple of minor things before ("donations" and travel insurances) which is super annoying.

I've done a few JQ bookings of late - MEL/BKK, BNE/DPS/BNE & BNE/HNL & IIRC the only things pre-selected that you had to de-select were the checked baggage and the Starkids donation. I have got caught out a couple of years ago paying for insurance I didn't want when I thought I'd deselected it. I believe the other extras are left blank leaving you to select 'yes' or 'no'.

I get why they pre-select the checked baggage because too many people that want checked baggage would forget or not select it then throw a tantrum at the airport when they're hit up for the much more expensive price to add bags when they checkin.

Sure it can take a while but you can streamline the process by saving your details for next time so it will remember name, address, phone etc. You will always see a pop-up that tells you your session is about to expire & do you want to extend which I've done several times during the one booking & have still been able to successfully complete the booking.

I too hate preselection, and also the credit card surcharge.

Poochie you don't have to do Poli to avoid the cc surcharges on JQ - all you need to do is Google 'Jetstar mobile site' from in a browser on your tablet or desktop then use your QF Cash card or other applicable debit card & hey presto.

Great tip - will try it later today.
