Changing QFF# to AA# on a booked flight.

Hi, long time reader, first time poster here. I hope this is in the right spot.

I currently have a Qantas booking on the 1st of January 2015, SYD-JFK, with my QFF# attached.

Based on my conversation with the call centre, it does not appear that my upgrade request will come through.

Does anyone know if I am able to change the QFF# attached to this booking, to my AA# either today, tomorrow, or at check-in, so that miles and points are credited to my AA account rather than QFF account?

My reason being - I will be spending considerable time in the USA over the coming year and if the upgrade does not come through I would rather kickstart my mileage earning / status earning on AA, than QF if the upgrade does not come through.

I see no reason why I couldn't change attached accounts from QFF to AA, however on the "manage bookings" section of the QFF page, I can see my QFF# entered upon making my booking, but don't have an option to edit it...

Do you know if I can edit this up to check-in or I need to do it within 24-hours or so? (I'm still hopeful of an upgrade miracle, but if it doesn't come through I want the AA# attached).

You're welcome. Sorry no idea about timings though. Do remember that with Qantas upgrades can be done right up to boarding.

No need to do it 24 hours prior as you can do it when you checkin.

Re your points upgrade, did you also opt in for an upgrade on the day?

Thanks - that's good to know.

I DID opt for an upgrade on the day. However, I'm Qantas Bronze...so given my flight is now only about 17 hours away and I haven't heard anything, I'd say it's unlikely I'll hear at the last minute - one would think that there would be a Silver or Gold flyer at least with some points to upgrade with ahead of me...
