Both the ADL and MEL lounges were serving coffee in colourful paper cups this morning. The paper cups were default in both lounges, but a regular coffee cup is available on request.

Enhancement #3,657 in a series. Next up - paper plates. And after 'customers welcome the lightweight and convenience of disposable dining', they'll be enhancing in-flight J.

They have previously had the brown Vittoria cups and would serve in those if requested - eg taking coffee to gate.

I liked it. A nice festive change from the usual gold Vittoria cup....

....and as a WP i should not have to drink out of a SG cup ;)

I would have thought that a perfectly logical reason!

Agree, but I would have thought the part I've bolded below is the operative phrase here.

DRW QP has the colourful cups. If you're staying in the lounge you can still get your coffee in fine bone china, er, reasonably robust ceramic perhaps.

This is Vittoria's Xmas campaign. It has nothing to do with QF other than the fact that Vittoria would have supplied them like all their other customers.

There's a logical explanation for all enhancements?

Beer in a paper cup. Now that would be a interesting enhancement! ;)

And according to the OP, they were the 'default option' for lounge users. Its a lounge, not a take-away joint!

Oh, I get it, Vittoria might have paid QF to have their paper cup promotion in the Qantas lounge. Great! Qantas gets paid for enhancing the lounge experience for users. Win-win (for Qantas).

Or it could be that they have a time frame to move these cups on by. This the season to be cynical hey...

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

With Qantas its always the season to be cynical. ;) Wonder if the lounges are being 'cleaned' this season?

No the J Lounges are not closing over this Christmas period, that has already been confirmed.

seriously, take a chill pill, it's a special Christmas cup for Christmas/vittoria promotion. You can still get your normal cup if you so desire.

Teehee, used them in SYD for my orange juice and apple juice breakfast.
Holds more liquid than the smallish sized glass cup anyway.
Used once, toss away, saves them having to wash I guess.
Also important to note, QP now staffed by Accor.
You should see the pace they remove plates, cups, coffee mugs, etc, as soon as you finished, no matter if you want to use the plate again for your own refill of brekkie or lunch servings, nope, it disappears!
And its no use hiding the plate or cup, or mug, they always disappear.

sorry but i prefer people spooning food onto a plate to have a clean one, its more hygienic. So i am all for them removing dirty plates asap.

Unbelievable. They serve coffee in a colourful paper cup and people whine. Says a lot about what this forum has become......
