Hi All,

Trying to figure out the AAdvantage Award charts and I notice that US <> AUS is 62.5/72.5 one way J/F. However, it does mention "transpacific only".

Has anyone had experience using this chart to book an award on say, CX for a JFK > HKG > AUS? or would that count as two segments?

Thanks!

It would be considered two segments.

I'm curious about the possibility of flying AUS - NZ - USA. It seems like an obvious choice but I can't recall reading any posts on the forum about it so there must be a reason. I know AirNZ J award seats are rare as hens teeth, but surely you could get a QF over to Auckland and a US carrier to US?

Has anyone done this?

You could use your AA miles and redeem on HA from AKL-USA via HNL, not sure whether the routing could be done as 1 award from AUS or 2 seperate ie AUS-NZ and NZ-USA

If you have the time and can figure out the connections you can travel from Australia via AKL/PPT/LAX using TN for the last two legs.

Can you book TN flights as AAward? With a QF or AA flight number? I know TN codeshare with QF, but I wasn't aware these fligths could aslo be booked with AAdvantage miles.

Yes you can use TN as part of an AA award but you can't see availability at AA online. Here's a useful thread on FT
TN awards

Best of luck!
