ALL QF's 330's to get lay flat Business seating - Including Domestic

It will more than likely be supported at the other end under the workstation of the seat in front.

The QF presser says it will take a month per bird... so it may take a number of years before these are the norm rather than the exception in the sky

The AusBT article suggests they are aiming to have 6 refurbed birds by the time VA launch their first in March 2015.

Ah okay. But isn't SQ F Suites a separate booking class and you are basically guaranteed this product?

I thought you mean two different fares concurrently on the same route, i.e. $X for the 3pm SYD-PER flight that has the Skybed MkI, and $X+Premium for the 5pm flight that has the new seat. That wouldn't work simply due to fleet rotation and last-minute changes.

I was posing a question, don't read anything into it.

ROFL, most domestic QF A330 flights have JQi Business/QFi Premium Economy seats marketed as "Qantas Business Class". I expect that prices for business to PER will go up substantially once the refit is completed. :(

I like the look of some of the small changes made since the new seat was originally unveiled ages ago, particularly the side lumbar supports!

I believe you have to take into account the angle of attack, how planes fly with their nose pointed slightly up.

There's another photo that shows the mock-up on a slop pointed up, presumably to account for this or there'd be a slope in the other direction that people would notice.

Wasn't that the theory with the Skybed Mk I? Look how that turned out, lol.

Wonder if they will change the points required to upgrade, at the moment 10,000 from economy flex to business PER-SYD Would be a good use of points on the red eye, but reckon upgrades will be a lot harder to get!

I'm flying SYD-SIN in May so hopefully get to try the new product

Perhaps, but there are a few degrees difference in the floor between the two photos...

Flat: http://qmr.prescms.com/_qube/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/A330-Business-Suite-Fully-Flat-1024x756.jpg

Angled: http://www.australianfrequentflyer....9676-all-qfs-330s-get-lay-b0bcyvhcqaa0nzk.jpg

Or should it be angled and flat ;)

That fake floor at Syd airport looks dodgy. That supposed angle of attack during flight is exactly the premise the Skybed MkI works on to supposedly yield a flat bed. If these new suites are only flat when the aircraft is flying at an angle, then we are going to be disappointed!

there should actually be a 2-3 degree recline. CX's F class seats are completely flat and when in flight your head is ever so slightly angled downwards from your feet. (Easily solved by swapping around to sleep the other way!)

The * degree recline or whatever it was for early angled beds didn't quite cut it however :(

With the staggered seat layout, some of the window seats are going to feel very private!

I wasn't a fan of how "open" the Skybed felt, especially when the armrest drops down. It's a very exposed to the world feeling, but with the console next to the aisle for every other seat, while it may be a little more closed in, I think the privacy factor will win out.

Interesting - by the time the armrests drop down significantly, the back of the skybed seat is generally has tilted well into the privacy cocoon.

My head might've be in there, but I still felt exposed! :p

Personal preference perhaps - and the fact I'm not used to it.

I feel the same way. The Recaro J seats on MH's A333s have the same feeling of exposure to the cabin for me, particularly the centre seats.

I am not a fan of the staggered seat layout in J. I prefer the herringbone arrangement that most quality airlines are using (like CX).

i must say i am not a big fan of it. virgins looks more upmarket and the colour is nicer
