Im trying to find the most cost effective way of getting my inlaws from SGN - ADL.

Originally i was going to book them reward economny tickets using VFF points on SA but there appears no availiability for that day. Flexability is not great as its the day after a 2 week tour and MIL needs to be back for work on the monday (most unfortunate).

Qantas do a 3 legged flight via BNE which is $360 odd in economy
Singapore outright is $700ish

I then looked up air asia..

They have a D7 flight with lie flat business for just over $500 via KUL. If i book 2 pax at once its $1600 so will book them at the same time on 2 devices instead. My inlaws have never flown business so their expectations would be low. In fact i wprobably would tell them it was business until they got their boarding pass.

This will be my most preferred option but i dont know a great deal about Air Asia / Air AsiaX.
Do they change flight times / planes / cancel flights at all?

Any significant negative reports from them or any other better option known?

I only have VFF points at the moment having just started a citi MR account to try and cover some holes.

TIA.

I have been on D7 between PER and KUL. It is an angled flat bed, but with a very basic Economy meal.

I couldn't give you any idea on their reliability, but a colleague at work had two KUL-PER flights cancelled on them prior to leaving (Early KUL-PER flight canned, moved onto the later flight, that also was canned, so had their holiday in KUL extended by a day courtesy of D7). I couldn't tell you if this is a regular occurence or not.

Well that was short lived! Purchased the first ticket at $610 after it went up again. Go to hit purchase for the second ticket and it's $1900 for the ticket!!!

They are going to be flying economy with SA I think!

Normally if two tickets is significantly more than 2 x one ticket, it's because there's only one ticket in a cheap bucket available, not because there's a penalty for booking for two people.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.
