Hi all, I am planning to use up some of my QF FF points to travel HKG-LHR F in May 2015. This will be my first 'First' experience. My choices are BA or CX. I love the new CX J seating but not sure if F is that much better.... or maybe BA is better?

Any advice welcome. Thanks.

Generally I'd suggest for catering etc that you'd be best taking the airline leaving its home port.

In any case though, CX F beats BA F any day of the week. Enjoy!

Have flown both in the last couple of months. Both were good. BA was more like J+ than a proper F. Food was so-so. CX definitely better, food good but still not great. The CX J is so good, that there isn't a huge distance between that and CX F.
If QF F were available, I would probably take that, as the food is great, and the seat is almost as good as CX....

I love CX F; I also thoroughly enjoy CX J but F takes it to the next level. FWIW I preferred CX F on the 744 vs 777 but maybe it's just because I'm a fan of being in the nose of the old bird. I wouldn't spend thee points for BA F over CX J but I would for CX F over CX J.

If this is a return flight I would suggest CX outbound and BA return, so you can use the Concorde Room at T5 on the way back.

If it's one way, or if you can't secure BA for the return, CX is the clear winner. There is no comparison between CX J and CX F. CX J is really nothing more than a flat bed (excellent) with premium economy style service and food. CX F is a true F product in every sense.
