Daylight Saving Discussion

Not sure but I think daylight savings ends for Eastern states, other than Qld, Sunday morning, 06 April. If so, clocks move back one hour.

It ends for all states that do daylight saving.

If only there was an ounce of truth involved. All I see is blind ignorance. At least in Queensland you're allowed to have a beer after 10pm.

You must live in SE QLD then... It makes sense in that part of the State, but not much use further north or west.

I'll just remain naive and ignorant. I don't understand any of the arguments against daylight savings.

Cows will be just fine. The curtains will not fade. And it does not matter if it is still hot at 8:00pm.

One argument why DLS must end before winter, is most people are programed to wake with first light, Lately in the southern states no light till past 7am but light till 8pm. Would beard for a lotof people in mid winter plus an argument over energy costs as well.

And it does not matter if it is still hot at 8:00pm.

It does if you're trying to put small children to sleep.

And even worse if you're in Mt Isa and it's still light and 30+ degrees approaching 9pm!!

As someone who is currently working nights (8pm-4am) I am finding that my roller shutters have been a wise investment.

Pitch black room means I can sleep for the requisite eight hours during the day.

Most important thing is to feed my cat before I go to bed otherwise she comes and wakes me up at about 7am for her breakfast.

Now to change all of the basic digital clocks.

No one, besides ignorant southerners, have said anything about cows or curtains. That you keep banging on about them is exactly why you view is meaningless. As for temperature, when you spend your life in A/C and have almost zero connection to natural events, of course you don't care about the temperature.

And that becomes a huge issue for some when first light is ~4:00am and you cannot get back to sleep and don't start work until after 9:00am.

As for temperature, when you spend your life in A/C and have almost zero connection to natural events, of course you don't care about the temperature.

Who spends their life in airconditioning? I hate it.

I love DLS, but every year I think it runs too long. It was nice to get up this morning and see without turning on the lights.

No, I did not suggest everyone on the same time. Just don't keep changing the timezone at each location. By the time I get used to the difference between where I am and they people I am working with, they go and change their timezone and hence the offset from me! Just as I get used to it, they change again. So its a moving target. Just choose a timezone for each geographic region and stick to it, please. Then I can get used to it and work with it.
