Thats in addition to the standard earn of 2 points per $1 for the cards and the 1 point per $2 for the QF Cash, so effectively 7.5 points per $

Does it say something to this effect in your email?

The 2 pts/$ for the cards available through https://giftcards.qantaspoints.com/ doesn't get a mention on https://giftcards.qantascash.com/ , so I wonder whether it's just the 5 + 0.5 = 5.5 pts/$

It could well be the case that its 5.5 points per $ depending on the portal, its not exactly clear.

I bought $2500 worth of JB gift cards on 19/9 and so far have only got 1250 pts (the base 0.5 pt / $). Not sure how long to wait before chasing up.

And the bonus points have come through, exactly 8 weeks to the day. I got a total of 5.5 pts / $ (not 7.5 pts as suggested earlier).
